Conley didn't allow more than three runs in any of his first four starts, but he has yielded 18 over his last 10.2 innings to send his ERA skyrocketing to 7.53 on the season. He will need to improve his performance to keep his regular spot in the rotation and will look to do so Sunday against the Braves.

EDGE Analysis

That 3.85 ERA Conley put up last year had some good luck baked into it, and it's more than balanced out this season. The outcome was positive in this one only because the Marlins scored 10 runs; obviously, that's not a common occurrence. Conley's ERA will probably level out eventually, but that level will likely be above the 4.00 mark, limiting his fantasy appeal to deep formats.

The ninth run charged to Conley's ledger reached base on a HBP, as Pittsburgh sent 14 batters to the plate in a disastrous eight-run second inning. Conley came into Friday having allowed only six runs in four starts, but this brutal outing more than doubled his ERA to 6.86. He'll try to shake it off in his next start Wednesday on the road against the Rays.

Conley allowed just one hit over five innings in his first start this season as he works to build off his first full season in the rotation.

In all likelihood, Conley will merely be pushed back one day.

His ability to pitch deeper into games will ultimately determine Conley's value in fantasy, and his next chance to last longer will come Friday against this very same Mets club.

EDGE Analysis

The 26-year-old didn't overwhelm anyone with his performance this spring (6.94 ERA, 1.89 WHIP), but his past major-league experience gave him the leg up over Jose Urena in the race for the final rotation spot. This lines Conley up to take the hill against the Mets on April 8.
