Despite his success as a starter, Sanchez still may head to the bullpen, as originally planned, at some point this season, Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moving Sanchez (5-1, 2.99 ERA) to the bullpen sounds ludicrous considering he is having a breakout campaign, but his health is the reason for possibly making the move. Aside from suffering a back injury before spring training, he threw only 102 innings last season and his career-high is just 133.1. At 23 years old, Sanchez is just beginning his big league career and the team had always planned on using him sparingly as a starter in 2016. The Blue Jays control his rights through 2020, meaning he's one of their most important long-term pieces. The 2016 Blue Jays aren't the only consideration here. Losing Sanchez to the bullpen would be a devastating blow to fantasy teams, and this is a situation owners should be monitoring very closely.

Sanchez (5-1) only allowed seven hits through 6.2 scoreless innings in a win against the Yankees Wednesday, in which he walked two and struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old righty threw his first scoreless outing since April 29, and he has allowed more than three runs only once in the past seven games. Sanchez has been very consistent, too, going more than six innings over that span. Sanchez lowered his ERA to 2.99, and his next start will come Monday against Detroit on the road.

Sanchez allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits, walking two and striking out six over 6.2 innings, but was left with a no-decision against the Red Sox on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez pitched well before appearing to tire a bit in the seventh inning. His pitches weren't as crisp in that frame although he nearly escaped before Christian Vazquez bounced a high hopper over the mound and into centerfield to plate a pair of runs and chase Sanchez. The Red Sox would eventually tie the score, eliminating his win, before Toronto put the game away in the eighth inning. Sanchez has a very respectable 3.29 ERA and has been a staff leader so far this season, but the Jays are already looking to reduce his workload, and conserve innings going forward. He'll take on the Yankees at the Rogers Centre in his next scheduled start.

Sanchez will have his next start pushed back a day and will throw against the Red Sox on Friday in Toronto, the Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Jays are going to plan as much as they can to give Sanchez some breaks throughout the season to keep him in the rotation as long as possible. He has never pitched more than 130 innings in any season and could blow past that level sometime in July. Earlier this season, the Jays brought Drew Hutchison up from Buffalo for a spot start, something they will probably repeat.

Sanchez (4-1) surrendered eight hits and two earned runs over seven innings in Friday's 9-3 victory over the Twins. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old righty bounced back from a rough effort versus the Rangers in his last start to neutralize a Twins lineup that has been showing some signs of life. He got 65 of 96 pitches across the strike zone, while securing first-pitch strikes on 21 of 28 hitters. It marked Sanchez's fourth quality start in his last five trips to the mound, and first time since his initial start of the season that he didn't issue a free pass. He's now sporting a solid 3.20 ERA to go along with a 4-1 record.

Sanchez has made major altercations to his repertoire that have helped him succeed early in 2016, Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez's entire arsenal (fastball, sinker, changeup and curveball) is looking sharper, but it's the hook that's giving him a new two-strike option this season. He's already struck out as many hitters with it (15) in 52 innings as he did in 92.1 innings last season. It's a valuable tool for a pitcher who can be decidedly fastball-heavy at times. Looking at the 23-year-old's 3.29 ERA and 1.23 WHIP make most forget that he had to earn his starting spot this past spring. Sanchez has more than earned the right to be a mainstay in one of the (surprisingly) best rotations in baseball.

Sanchez allowed six runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out six over 6.2 innings, but received no decision Sunday at the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Despite the shaky outing, the Blue Jays offense put up enough runs to keep Sanchez from picking up a loss. It was only the second time in eight starts that he failed to post a quality start, and his ERA rose to 3.29. He'll make his next start Friday at the Twins.

Sanchez (3-1) held the Giants to just one run on three hits and five walks over seven innings with five strikeouts in Monday's victory.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez continues to thrive by throwing ground balls, as he induced nine more ground ball outs Monday and has a stellar 59.2 percent ground ball rate for the season. He held the Giants to 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and has now stranded over 80 percent of his runners this season, a major contributor to his 2.58 ERA. Still, Sanchez has allowed just three home runs this year, and as long as he keeps the ball in the yard, he's capable of many more starts like this one.

Sanchez held the Rangers to three runs on seven hits over seven innings in a no-decision Wednesday. He struck out five and walked two.
EDGE Analysis
Other than a six-run disaster against Oakland on April 22, Sanchez has been incredibly sharp on the mound for the Jays, turning in quality starts in each of his other five outings. The 23-year-old righty is proving with every start that he belongs in the rotation after spending most of the last two seasons in the bullpen; the only question is whether he'll be able to sustain this sort of success into the second half of the season, as he threw only 102 innings last year and his career-high is just 133.1. For now, though, enjoy the ride, which continues Monday against the Giants.

Sanchez notched seven shutout innings in Friday's 6-1 victory over the Rays, surrendering six hits and two walks. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
After getting shelled for 10 hits and six earned runs in his last trip to the mound versus the A's, the 23-year-old rebounded in fine fashion. It was Sanchez's first shoutout performance of the season, and brought his ERA back down to 2.59. Outside of the aforementioned disaster versus Oakland, the third-year pro has been outstanding this season, recording an impressive 29:10 K/BB ratio over 31.1 innings.
