Blue Jays manager John Gibbons does not expect Sanchez (back) to make his next scheduled start, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports. Sanchez is eligible to return from the disabled list June 21 against the Orioles, and while the Blue Jays don't expect him to miss much time beyond the 15-day minimum, the aforementioned date would apparently be pushing things. Jays manager John Gibbons said there's some chance Sanchez will need a rehab assignment, but Gibbons also added that the right-hander might be able to avoid it by throwing a few side sessions, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.

The Blue Jays do not believe Sanchez's (upper body) injury is serious, Shi Davidi of SportsNet reports. Sanchez hit the DL on Sunday with a lat strain, but the team does not expect him to miss much more than the requisite 15 days. Sanchez will undergo an MRI to further evaluate the injury, after which a firmer timetable will be available.

Sanchez was placed on the 15-day DL with a lat strain, Sportsnet's Shi Davidi reports. Sanchez's injury was originally characterized as general upper body soreness, but it has since been clarified that a lat strain will be the culprit of his absence. He'll now miss his regularly scheduled start Tuesday, with Scott Copeland set to be recalled to serve as the replacement.

Sanchez (upper body) will be placed on the 15-day disabled list prior to his scheduled start Tuesday against the Mets, John Iott of the National Post reports. The Blue Jays are characterizing Sanchez's injury, which has kept him off the mound since June 6, as upper-body soreness. Since he already hasn't pitched in more than a week, Sanchez would be eligible to return from the DL on June 22, though it's not clear if he'll be fully recovered by that point. While Sanchez is out, Scott Copeland is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday to make the start.

Sanchez is dealing with upper-body soreness and is in danger of missing his next scheduled start Tuesday, SportsNet's Shi Davidi reports. It was originally believed that Sanchez's turn was skipped this week to monitor his innings, but that was not the case, as the upper-body soreness was apparently the real reason. While he said the soreness is improving, it is still an issue. If the Jays opt to skip Sanchez again it would probably result in him being placed on the DL, which could be backdated to June 6. Scott Copeland and Daniel Norris would be options to take the ball if Sanchez is still ailing in the coming days.

Sanchez will have his start skipped Wednesday in an effort to manage his innings, the Toronto Star's Brendan Kennedy reports. Righty Scott Copeland will make his first career start Wednesday, but Sanchez will rejoin the rotation for a two-start week next week. This may not be the last time this season Sanchez gets scratched in an effort to manage his innings, but his spot in the rotation seems to be pretty secure.

Sanchez allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits, he did not walk a batter and struck out three over eight-plus innings of a 6-2 win against the Astros on Friday night. It was the fourth straight quality start for Sanchez (5-4, 3.55 ERA), and may have been one of his best outings of the season. He worked the strike zone, primarily with his sinking fastball, and completed eight shutout innings having given up just three singles while inducing 12 groundball outs. A lead-off home run, followed by a pair of singles to open the ninth inning lead to his departure, but this is the type of performance the Jays have been looking for from their young righthander.

Sanchez picked up a quality start Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings, striking out five. It's his third straight QS, although he only has one win to show for it in those three outings, and Sanchez has now shaved his ERA down to 3.88. Control remains an issue for the young hurler, but he'll try to continue his run of respectable starts going on Friday, at home to the dangerous but strikeout-prone Astros.

Sanchez gave up three earned runs on six hits and three walks with five strikeouts over 7.1 innings Tuesday against the Angels. The 7.1 innings marked a career-best for Sanchez and all told this was clearly his best start of the season even though he didn't notch a win. Coming into Tuesday's start Sanchez comfortably led the majors with a 16.9 percent walk rate among pitchers with 30-plus innings under their belt. Despite Tuesday's solid outing, Sanchez still has more walks (32) than strikeouts (30) over 45.1 innings this season, and considering those are two statistics that stabilize relatively quickly, there is reason to tread lightly with Sanchez moving forward.

Sanchez will have his scheduled start Monday pushed back to Tuesday. Sanchez was expected to start Monday against the Angels, but the Blue Jays will go with Todd Redmond instead and bump the rest of their starters back a day. Sanchez should still get two starts at home this week -- Tuesday against the Angels and Sunday against the Mariners.
