Through the first half of the 2016 campaign, Sanchez (9-1) sits out the All-Star Game with a 2.97 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 103 strikeouts through 18 starts (118.1 innings).
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez was hoping to make his first All-Star appearance and his numbers warranted a selection. He has the fourth-best ERA in the AL, and his 14 quality starts are tied for tops in MLB alongside Madison Bumgarner, Clayton Kershaw and Jon Lester. These types of numbers, if continued over a full season, make a guy worthy of being a candidate for the Cy Young Award. The unfortunate news for Sanchez and his owners is that the team seems committed to the idea of moving him to the bullpen at some point during the second half of the season to preserve his young arm.

Sanchez (9-1) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over five innings, but received no decision Saturday against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez gave up single runs in the second and fourth innings, but the Jays' offense made a comeback to take him off the hook for a potential loss. He's now held opponents to two or fewer earned runs in seven of his last eight starts, and he has a 2.97 ERA on the year. He'll make his next start after the All-Star break.

Sanchez (9-1) allowed just one run on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts over eight innings in a win Monday over the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez has tightened things up in his four starts since allowing six runs in five innings June 12 against Baltimore. In those four starts, all quality starts, he hasn't allowed more than two runs in a single start and has lasted eight innings twice. He has just 16 strikeouts over 28 innings in that stretch, but more important has been his pinpoint control -- just six walks, a 1.9 BB/9 that has kept the bases clear and his pitch count low so he can go deep into games.

Sanchez may stick in the starting rotation for the remainder of the season, despite ongoing concerns about his considerable workload, Sportsnet reports
EDGE Analysis
Speaking just a few weeks ago, Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said Sanchez will be moved to the bullpen at some point this summer in an effort to curtail his innings. While still in need of bullpen help and still conscious of limiting the young right-hander's workload, the Blue Jays might find it difficult to justify such a move while fighting for a playoff spot amidst a crowded AL field. Rather than moving Sanchez to the bullpen, the team might just opt to skip a few of his starts, or else limit his innings in the games he pitches. Although an immediate decision isn't needed, the Jays will presumably want to have this figured out before they begin pre-deadline shopping. Sanchez has recorded 13 quality starts in 16 tries, with a 3.08 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, 8-1 record and 96 strikeouts in 105.1 innings.

Sanchez (8-1) limited the Rockies to one run on six hits over eight innings Wednesday. He walked two and struck out three in the victory.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez handled the most hitter-friendly ballpark like it was no big deal at all. The outing was yet another positive step for a pitcher who finds himself with the seventh-best ERA in the AL at 3.08. Perhaps just as surprising, Sanchez also finished Wednesday's outing ranked fourth with 105.1 innings. The young right-hander has now won his last seven decision, however, there is still some long-term concern about Sanchez's workload and an innings limit that could force his move to the bullpen in the weeks ahead.

Sanchez allowed two runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four over six innings, but received no decision Friday at the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez posted a quality start, but the Blue Jays were unable to get him much run support in a game they'd go on to lose. He's now held opponents to two or fewer earned runs in four of his last five starts, and he has a 3.33 ERA on the year. He'll make his next start Wednesday at the Rockies.

Sanchez (7-1) gave up seven hits, two earned runs and two walks over six innings in Friday's 13-3 victory over the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old got a boatload of run support, but was highly effective independent of the big lead he was afforded. Sanchez turned in his fifth quality start in his last six trips to the mound, and didn't give up a homer for the fifth time over that span as well. He's now generated a solid 3.35 ERA, along with an 89:31 K:BB. It was Sanchez' sixth straight victory, a streak he'll look to extend next Friday versus the White Sox.

Sanchez will move to the Blue Jays' bullpen later this season, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Blue Jays' manager John Gibbons has made it clear that Sanchez will be moving to the bullpen sometime during the second half of the season in order to make room in the starting rotation for Drew Hutchison. The 23-year-old has been an effective starter for Toronto this season, going 6-1 with a 3.38 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 8.75 K/9 through 13 starts. It appears to be almost a sure thing that he will move to the bullpen, but there is a possibility that he returns to the rotation near the end of the year.

Sanchez (6-1) needed all the run support he could get Sunday, picking up the victory over the Orioles despite allowing six runs on 10 hits (including four home runs) and three walks over five innings while striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
It was his shortest outing since April 22, and the four homers surrendered matched his total for the entire season coming into Sunday. Nonetheless, Sanchez came away with his fifth straight win in a 10-9 slugfest, and his 38:8 K:BB in 33.1 innings over his last five starts is a better reflection of how he's been pitching than one ugly start. He'll face off against the O's again Friday in Baltimore.

Sanchez (5-1) pitched eight innings, allowing two runs on three hits while walking one and striking out a career-high 12 against the Tigers. Despite his impressive performance, he did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez was great Tuesday, he took a one-hitter into the ninth inning, but lost his dominance with a 2-0 lead in the final frame. Chasing the first complete game of his career, Sanchez gave up a single and a double to begin the bottom of the ninth. Manager John Gibbons decided that was enough to put in Roberto Osuna (who was 13-14 in save chances before this one). To Sanchez's dismay, the closer blew his second save of the season, and the starter's outstanding effort went by the wayside. The 23-year-old right-hander will make his next start Sunday against the Orioles.
