Sanchez will be skipped the next time through the Blue Jays' rotation, so the team decided to option him to High-A Dunedin on Sunday to free up a roster spot, Sportsnet's Barry Davis reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Blue Jays want to conserve Sanchez's innings and could have made him available out of the bullpen while still skipping a start, but Sanchez started Saturday and would have been unavailable for several days anyway, so the team decided to send him to the minors in order to open up a spot for reliever Aaron Loup. Sanchez cannot be recalled for 10 days after being sent down, so his next outing with the big club will not come until sometime in September.

Sanchez allowed five runs (four earned) on four hits, struck out five and walked one in a no-decision against the Indians on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Toronto had a 6-5 lead going into the bottom of the fifth, but Sanchez didn't pitch the required five frames in order to get the victory. He struck out the side in the first and faced the minimum through three, but he yielded four hits and five runs in the fourth. Sanchez is now 12-2 with a 2.99 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 132 strikeouts in 156.1 innings. His next start will be Saturday against the Twins.

Sanchez (12-2) gave up two earned runs on five hits and three walks over seven innings in Saturday's 4-2 victory over the Astros. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Outside of the two-run double he gave up to Carlos Correa in the first, Sanchez was his typically dominant self. Sanchez now has quality starts in eight of his last 10 trips to the mound, and has rattled off victories in 11 of his last 12 decisions. He'll look to continue his success when he takes on the Indians next Saturday.

Sanchez is going to stay in the rotation for the time being, as the Blue Jays will move forward with a six-man rotation, Brendan Kennedy of the Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
The club will evaluate Sanchez from start to start to determine if he is showing any signs of fatigue, but will remain one of the starters for the foreseeable future. Sanchez will toe the rubber Saturday against the Royals, with his next start lined up for the following Saturday against Houston. There was also talk amongst the rest of the rotation, including Francisco Liriano, and the group supported the six-man ordeal, with Liriano adding that he could go to the bullpen if came to that. But for now, the Blue Jays will try it out with all six of them starting.

Sanchez will start Saturday in Kansas City and the Blue Jays are still trying to determine how much longer he will remain in the rotation, the Toronto Star's Brendan Kennedy reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is becoming one of the more frustrating situations in the league, as Sanchez is clearly the Blue Jays' best starter, but the team seems to be intent on shutting him down at some point. The fact that the team still seems unsure as to when that will happen only makes the situation more complicated. Deploy him as usual Saturday, but continue to monitor what is coming out of the Toronto camp to gauge how much longer Sanchez will remain in the rotation.

Sanchez will make his next scheduled start Friday, manager John Gibbons saidSportsnetreports.
EDGE Analysis
General manager Ross Atkins said "we haven't worked through the details" of when the transition happens, but the acquisition of Francisco Liriano seemingly assures that Sanchez will be moved to a relief role. in the near future. However, the team has used vocabulary that keeps the door cracked for the right-hander to remain or return to the rotation if desired. Despite all the talk of moving him, it's hard to fully believe the Jays would do such a thing down the stretch with their best pitcher, one that is putting up numbers in line with Cy Young candidates.

Sanchez could make 1-2 more starts but will be moving to the bullpen, Toronto GM Ross Atkins told Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.
EDGE Analysis
At 139.1 innings this year, Sanchez has already set a career high by 47 innings. He has been stellar, with a 2.71 ERA and 118 strikeouts, but at just 24 years old, the Blue Jays are going to handle him with an eye to the future. Roberto Osuna will continue to serve as closer, which could leave Sanchez as the relief ace arm in Toronto's bullpen used to put out fires before the ninth inning.

Sanchez (11-1) was dealing on Monday, shutting out the Padres over seven innings, allowing three hits, walking two, and striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez has been on a tear of late, allowing a total of eight earned runs over his last seven games. The 24-year-old hasn't lost a game since April and has shown no signs of slowing down. He'll carry a sterling 2.72 ERA into his start Sunday against the Orioles.

Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins said it's more likely than not that Aaron Sanchez will have his innings limited this season, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez has pitched 125.1 innings so far in 2016. Heading into the season, his highest season total was 109.2 innings in 2013. While there is no exact number of innings he will throw, the Blue Jays will be in a tough spot if they continue to stay in the playoff hunt. This will definitely be a situation to monitor as the Blue Jays may give Sanchez extra days off between starts, put him in the bullpen or shut him down completely.

Sanchez (10-1) allowed just one run on six hits with five strikeouts over seven innings in a win Tuesday over Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez now has six straight starts in which he allowed two or fewer run. He continues to do it via the grounder, as he earned 12 groundouts against just four flyouts as he cruised to the victory Tuesday night. In those six aforementioned starts, Sanchez has allowed just two home runs. His 0.7 HR/9 ranks 16th in the league, particularly impressive considering he plays half his games at Rogers Centre.
