Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas stopped 18 of 21 shots to hold the fort for Team Chara at the NHL All-Star Game Sunday.
Each of the three netminders that suited up for Team Chara allowed three goals, but Thomas played the third period and faced the most shots so we suppose he deserves the most credit in this exhibition contest. Anything that takes the focus away from Thomas' political beliefs is a good thing in our books. Jimmy Howard and Carey Price faced 14 and 15 shots, respectively, during their period of play.

Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs spoke in Tim Thomas' defense on Saturday.
Thomas has been the center of a controversy he created when he refused to join his teammates in their trip to the White House as part of their Stanley Cup celebration. Thomas later released a statement saying, among other things, that he felt the government has grown out of control. "Tim is a great hockey player," said Jacobs. "He's done his job very well for for us and I'm totally behind him. I don't necessarily agree with his political views, but that's not what he does for me. And I've got to say this. While I don't agree with it, I certainly feel he has the right to express himself as every American does and he does a good job."

Tim Thomas thinks the controversy surrounding him skipping the Boston Bruins' White House visit will blow over.
"I think it should. I think it should," Thomas said. "I think it's all media-driven right now. It has been from the start. Everything I said then was as an individual. It wasn't as a representative of the Boston Bruins. All it has to do is with me. It's separate from hockey. That's my personal life. Those are my personal views. Those are my personal beliefs. It has nothing to do with hockey." We can believe Thomas when he says that his actions had nothing to do with the Boston Bruins and were are about him. However, that's also the problem. He decided to take this opportunity to make a political statement instead of go to the White House and celebrate with his teammates. Still, as we said earlier, he's one of the biggest reaosns his teammates got invited to go to the White House in the first place.

Tim Thomas was the first goaltender selected in the NHL All-Star Fantasy Draft Thursday night in Ottawa.
Thomas led the Bruins to their first Stanley Cup since 1972 in record breaking fashion last season. Despite a little less fanfare surrounding him, the unorthodox goalie has produced at nearly the same level as his historic season of 2010-11. Thomas is showing no signs of fatigue and has now won 20 games on the season. He won't start in as many games as some of the other top-tier goaltenders because of Tuukka Rask's fine play, but that won't stop him from being among the league leaders in GAA and save percentage.

Tim Thomas decided against joining his Boston Bruins teammates in their visit to the White House in celebration of their successful 2010-11 Stanley Cup run.
Thomas, who won the Vezina Trophy and Conn Smythe Trophy, decided to boycott the event in protest of what he feels is a government that "has grown out of control." In his statement, he went onto briefly criticize the Republican and Democratic Parties without mentioning either by name. We'd say he should have gone anyways to support his teammates, but then again, he's the single biggest reason his teammates got to go to the White House in the first place.

It wasn't as pretty as most of his victories this season but Tim Thomas got his 20th win of 2011-12 as the Boston Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 6-5 (SO).
Thomas allowed five goals on 38 shots, but he made some big saves against the frequently explosive Flyers offense. He's now 20-9-0 in a follow-up campaign to his award-winning 2010-11 season.

Tim Thomas should be back in net Sunday after Tuukka Rask started in Boston's 3-2 overtime loss to the Rangers on Saturday.
The reigning Vezina Trophy winner is 15-3-2 with a 1.96 goals-against average in regular season and playoff starts against the Flyers, posting a 1.59 GAA while going 9-1-1 since January 2010. The unorthodox goalie has produced at nearly the same level as his historic season of 2010-11 and is obviously a must-start for the rest of the year.

Tim Thomas allowed only one goal on 31 shots in the Bruins' 4-1 victory over the Devils Thursday night.
Thomas won't start in as many games as some of the other top-tier goaltenders because of Tuukka Rask's fine play, but that won't stop him from being among the league leaders in every scoring category. Despite significantly less fanfare surrounding him, the unorthodox goalie has produced at nearly the same level as his historic season of 2010-11. His record now stands at 19-9-0 on the season with Hasek-like peripherals.

Tim Thomas was the first goalie off the ice Thursday, which makes him the probable starter to face New Jersey.
He surrendered four goals on 30 shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to Tampa Bay in his last outing and has lost three of his past four contests. However, he still among the top options between the pipes this season.

Tim Thomas allowed four goals on 30 shots in a 5-3 loss to the Lightning Tuesday night.
The seemingly invincible Thomas has now allowed three or more goals in a game for the third time in four contests, a rarity for him. If you think this is the beginning of a dry spell for the veteran goaltender, we would advise you not to bet too heavily on that outcome.
