Tim Thomas has been named the NHL's first star for November after backstopping the Boston Bruins to a sensational month. He earned a perfect 9-0-0 record while producing three shutouts and a remarkable .941 save percentage. Thomas has picked up where he left off a year ago, after a sluggish start to the season, to rejoin the league's elite netminders. The reigning Vezina and Conn Smythe Trophy winner should be among the top goalies for the balance of the 2011-12 campaign.

Tim Thomas turned aside 34 of 37 shots to contribute to the Boston Bruins' 6-3 triumph over the Maple Leafs in Toronto Wednesday night. It was the ninth consecutive win for Thomas, who won the Vezina Trophy last season and may well be on his way to another this season. The Bruins are 12-0-1 since Nov. 1.

Bruins coach Claude Julien won't reveal the team's starting goaltender until the last minute. "(You'll) know in about a half an hour," Julien said, referencing the game's 1pm ET start time. Tim Thomas should be considered the probable goaltender, but the game's early start and Julien's silence have left the door open to a surprise.

Tim Thomas blocked 31 of 34 shots in regulation time as he and the visiting Boston Bruins defeated the Buffalo Sabres 4-3 in a five-round shootout Wednesday night. When Christian Ehrhoff of the Sabres scored on a slap shot from the right point to at 11:56 of the first period, Thomas' road shutout run was snapped at 234:05, and his overall shutout streak ended at 145 minutes. Nevertheless, don't discount what Thomas means to the Stanley Cup champions. He has been nothing short of sensational.

Thomas recorded his second straight shutout tonight and seems to be in superb shape once again this season. Despite significantly less fanfare surrounding him, the unorthodox goalie has produced at nearly the same level as his historic season of 2010-11. Thomas will obviously be hard-pressed to offer an encore performance this season but he's off to a terrific start.

Although we don't expect him to repeat his 2010-11, when he set a new NHL record with a .938 save percentage, he certainly seems poised to compete for another Vezina Trophy. He now has a 1.92 GAA and .932 save percentage in 13 games.

Tim Thomas surrendered only two goals on 23 shots Saturday night in a 6-2 win over the Sabres. Thomas who captured the Vezina as the league's top goalie last season will need to continue playing strong as the Bruins look to rejoin the playoff picture. This win combined with his most recent shutout will provide the much needed swagger the Bruins hold so dear.
