Tim Thomas kicked out 17 of 20 shots in a 4-2 loss Saturday night.
Thomas has allowed three or more goals in three of his last five starts, which is about as cold to a slump as he's endured in 2011-12. He still hasn't allowed more than two goals in consecutive starts this season.

Tim Thomas allowed only one goal on 34 shots in the Bruins' 2-1 victory over the Montreal Canadiens Thursday night.
Thomas led the Bruins to their first Stanley Cup since 1972 in record breaking fashion last season. Despite a little less fanfare surrounding him, the unorthodox goalie has produced at nearly the same level as his historic season of 2010-11. Thomas is showing no signs of fatigue and has now won 18 games on the season. He won't start in as many games as some of the other top-tier goaltenders because of Tuukka Rask's fine play, but that won't stop him from being among the league leaders in GAA and save percentage as well as a Vezina Trophy candidate this season. Also, if for some reason Rask is still available in your free agent pool, pick him up immediately.

Tim Thomas kicked out 32 of 36 shots in a 4-3 loss to Vancouver on Saturday.
Thomas had his work cut out for him in this game. He was forced to help the Bruins kill 10 penalties, including a five-minute major courtesy of Brad Marchand clipping Vancouver's Sami Salo. All of the goals Thomas allowed were scored while the Bruins were shorthanded.

Tim Thomas was voted in as a starter for the 2012 All-Star game.
Thomas has been an All-Star on three other occasions, but this is the first time he's been voted in as a starter. "It's an honor obviously to be the No. 1 vote-getter for a goalie," he said. "Obviously, it hasn't always been that way. I've been lucky enough to be on the three previous (All-Star teams). This is a little different scenario. I guess all I can say is I'm happy about it." The two-time Vezina Trophy winner has a 1.90 GAA and .940 save percentage in 25 games this season.

Tim Thomas stopped 30 of 31 shots in a 6-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday.
Thomas is so good, a performance like that feels almost standard. Going into this contest he had a 1.94 GAA and .939 save percentage in 24 games this season.

Tim Thomas will get the start Wednesday against the Devils.
The Bruin veteran netminder was first off the ice in Wednesday morning's practice. We suspect Tuukka Rask will get the call on Thursday against Calgary. Adjust your goaltending rotation accordingly.

The Bruins' game Wednesday will kick off a stretch of three games in four nights.
Look for Tim Thomas and Tuukka Rask to share goaltending duties this week and for the next two months. Boston has 13 games in January and in February and will rely heavily on Rask to spell off the veteran Thomas in week's when the team plays four games. If Rask is still available in your league, it may not be a bad time to pick him up as a third or fourth goalie.

Tim Thomas had a forgetful night Saturday allowing four goals on 27 shots in the Boston Bruins' 4-2 setback to the Dallas Stars.
He is human after all ... but more notably, maybe the 12-day layoff since his last start did have an affect on his game. The stud goalie gave up four markers for the first time all season and finished with a sub-.900 save percentage for just the fourth time. Even the league's best goalies have down nights, so this is nothing to fret about, and it's still very likely Tuuka Rask will steal about a third of the starts as the season progresses. Thomas still has a 1.94 goals-against average (fifth in the league) and the second-best save percentage, .939.

Tim Thomas will play between the pipes on Saturday.
Thomas hasn't played since December 19th, but before you read too much into that, keep in mind that thanks to an oddity in the schedule, the Bruins have only participated in two games since that date. Tuukka Rask earned a 30-save shutout on December 23rd, so he played again in their next game on December 28th. It's as innocent as that. We don't think the long period off will significantly affect Thomas.
