Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs spoke in Tim Thomas' defense on Saturday. Thomas has been the center of a controversy he created when he refused to join his teammates in their trip to the White House as part of their Stanley Cup celebration. Thomas later released a statement saying, among other things, that he felt the government has grown out of control. "Tim is a great hockey player," said Jacobs. "He's done his job very well for for us and I'm totally behind him. I don't necessarily agree with his political views, but that's not what he does for me. And I've got to say this. While I don't agree with it, I certainly feel he has the right to express himself as every American does and he does a good job."
