Danault scored a goal, assisted on another and won 11 of 15 faceoffs in Thursday's 5-2 victory over the Devils.
EDGE Analysis
The pair of points ended an 11-game skid in which Danault had failed to find the scoresheet while posting a minus-6 rating. Not coincidentally, he skated a season-high 15:24 in this one. That's no accident, as Danault has been elevated to a more featured role by default thanks to the injuries suffered by Alex Galchenyuk and David Desharnais.

Danault (illness) will suit up against New Jersey on Thursday despite missing the game-day skate, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Danault needs just one point to tie his 2015-16 production which he accrued in 51 contests split between the Canadiens and the Blackhawks. Although the center started the season off strong, he has waned of late and is bogged down in a 11-game pointless streak. The Habs appear to have avoided the need to make a recall from the minors since Danault will be able to power through his illness.

Danault has come down with an illness that kept him off the ice for morning skate Wednesday, Dan Robertson of TSN 690 reports.
EDGE Analysis
The question is whether Danault will be healthy enough to suit up for the evening's contest against the Devils. Traded to the Habs last February, the Quebec native has been a relatively efficient scorer -- five goals and four assists in 26 games -- despite a limited amount of ice time -- 12:49 per contest. Hopefully the team reevaluates him soon and leaves enough time for his owners to adjust lineups accordingly, but then again, he might not command high ownership with constrained role.

Danault, who had been skating on the third line, was moved to the fourth line for Saturday night's 2-1 win over the Maple Leafs. He had three shots, two hits, a blocked shot and two penalty minutes in 13;42 of ice time.
EDGE Analysis
It doesn't take much for head coach Michel Therrien to promote David Desharnais -- in this case, a couple of inspired games was enough for the coach to drop Danault after a brief stint as a the top-nine forward. The 23-year-old reacted well, putting forth a hard-working and gritty effort.

Danault scored the game-winning goal and added an assist on Max Pacioretty's third of the season in Saturday's 5-0 win over Detroit.
EDGE Analysis
That now gives Danault five goals and nine points in 15 games this season, and the former first-round pick seems to have finally found his stride. His ice time has crept up over the past couple games as his production has increased, but it'll still be quite some time before he displaces Alex Galchenyuk or Tomas Plekanec. The good news is that he's shown great chemistry playing with Pacioretty and Andrew Shaw, and the trio combined for seven points Saturday. He's worth keeping an eye on for a potential breakout season.

Danault scored his fourth goal of the season in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Kings. He had two shots, two penalty minutes, two blocked shots and hit while winning seven of nine faceoffs in 14:22 of ice time.
EDGE Analysis
Off the fourth line for the first time this season, Danault's season debut at center was a success. Playing two-way hockey and contributing in every phase of the game, he earned the number one star after replacing David Desharnais on the third line. With seven points in 14 games, the Quebec native his miles ahead of his career per-game scoring pace (.24 ppg) and may have a permanent home off the fourth line.

Danault scored his third goal of the season in Montreal's 5-4 win over Philadelphia on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Danault has six points (three goals, three assists) in 12 games, never going more than two contests without a point. That's not a bad return for a fourth liner. And the Habs are noticing. He's averaging 21 shifts and 14:14 of ice time over the last three games -- two shifts and 1:30 of ice time more than his season average. Don't be surprised if he's promoted off the fourth line at some point, perhaps in place of Artturi Lehkonen, who has three points in 12 games and is point-less in the last six.

Danault assisted on Torrey Mitchell's second-period goal in Wednesday night's 3-0 win over the Canucks.
EDGE Analysis
Montreal's fourth line has produced seven goals through 10 games, resulting in some fantasy value for the likes of Danault (two goals, three assists) and Mitchell (five goals). The 2011 first-round pick of the Blackhawks now has five points in 10 games, matching the point total he had with Montreal last season in 21 games. As long as the Habs are playing winning hockey and rolling four lines -- he's averaging 12:32 of ice time -- fantasy owners may be able to wring some value out of Danault in deeper leagues.

Danault scored a goal and had three shots in 13:02 of ice time in the Canadiens' 3-2 win over the Islanders on Wednesday. The fourth-line winger notched his second goal in the last three games.
EDGE Analysis
The Canadiens are rolling right now and fourth-liners are getting 12-13 minutes of ice time per game. Danault's goal against the Bruins last Saturday appears to have ignited his confidence. Through the first four games of the season, he had one shot on goal, but since the Bruins game, he's fired eight shots towards goalies in the last three games.

Danault scored Montreal's second goal in Saturday night's 4-2 win over Boston. He added two shots, two blocked shots and two hits in 12:37 of ice time.
EDGE Analysis
The Canadiens pounced on all of Boston's mistakes Saturday, including a bad pinch by John-Michael Liles, which resulted in Danault finishing off a 2-on-1 with Alexander Radulov. Danault has been strictly a fourth-liner, but the Habs are getting contributions from all four lines during their 4-0-1 start. He was acquired from Chicago at the trade deadline last season and made little impact beyond some good work on faceoffs, but he's registered points in three of the first five games to start the 2016-17 season.
