Danault sustained an upper-body injury in Saturday's matinee loss to the Capitals, putting into question his status for a home game against the Oilers, John Lu of TSN Montreal reports.
EDGE Analysis
With bench boss Michel Therrien unsure as to whether Danault will suit up for the second side of a back-to-back, the attention turns to David Desharnais, who was a healthy scratch in the most recent contest. Danault hasn't missed a game all season, which has allowed him to enjoy a breakout consisting of 10 goals and 17 helpers. He's day-to-day, at least until more information is revealed.

Danault picked up two assists and went plus-3 in Thursday's 5-2 win over Buffalo.
EDGE Analysis
He got the secondary assist on the first two of Max Pacioretty's goals, so Danault is still reaping the benefits of first-line action. However, he hadn't been reaping much at all in the six games leading up to the All-Star break, as the pivot had just a single point and eight shots in that time. Don't expect consistency, but there's enough here for deep-league owners to deploy Danault -- at least until Alex Galchenyuk (knee) can return from IR.

Danault scored his 10th goal of the season in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to Buffalo.
EDGE Analysis
When Alex Galchenyuk returned from a knee injury, he centered the top line, but Montreal coach Michel Therrien deemed that assignment too much, too soon for the center who had missed 18 games. So, Danault was moved to the first line with Max Pacioretty and Alexander Radulov, a combination that meshed well during Galchenyuk's absence. Before Saturday's goal, Danault's previous score came six games ago when he was filling in for the then-injured Galchenyuk on the top line. You can spot the pattern; Danault's offensive burst in December/January was fueled by his placement on the top line. Take advantage of his favorable assignment now, because Galchenyuk will soon be back there.

Danault was moved to the Canadiens' top line for Friday's game against the Devils but had just 43 seconds on the power play in Montreal's 3-1 win.
EDGE Analysis
Typically, centers on a top line will receive ice time on the power play, but that wasn't the case Friday when Montreal had seven power-play opportunities. Alex Galchenyuk, only recently back from an 18-game absence due to a knee injury, had been dropped off the first line for the game, However, he remained a power-play staple, scoring a goal with two assists over 5:14 of man-advantage ice time. When Montreal coach Michel Therrien announced he was moving Danault to the top line, he inferred it was a temporary state until Galchenyuk got himself back to the level he was pre-injury. Judging from Galchenyuk's performance Friday, we might see Danault back on the third line Saturday night against Buffalo.

Danault has been moved to Montreal's top line, centering Max Pacioretty and Alexander Radulov, Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette reports. You can expect those three together on the ice Friday night against the Devils.
EDGE Analysis
Danault had evolved into the No. 1 center while Alex Galchenyuk rehabbed from a knee injury and achieved a certain level of comfort as the team's top center. The benefits of centering the top line are obvious -- more shifts with more offensively skilled forwards and likely more power-play ice time. Canadiens coach Michel Therrien dropped Galchenyuk from the top line, admitting he probably should have brought him back following his injury at a more measured pace.

Danault set up three goals in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Increased ice time with all the injuries in Montreal has allowed Danault to show his offensive chops and he has delivered 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in his last nine games. Danault is talented, but he won't be able to continue to deliver at this pace when the Habs return to full complement. But until then, he could be a cheap fill for your roster.

Danault scored two even-strength goals and received 20:16 of ice during Wednesday's win over Winnipeg.
EDGE Analysis
As long as he's playing with Max Pacioretty and Alexander Radulov in all situations, Danault's fantasy value receives a huge boost. The 23-year-old forward has also been solid dating back to mid-December with four goals, 12 points and 29 shots through his past 16 games. Danault is worth a speculative add in deeper seasonal leagues and is a potential low-priced flier in daily contests when Montreal lands in a favorable matchup.

Danault had three shots on goal and two assists, including one on the game-winning goal, in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win in Dallas.
EDGE Analysis
Skating with the uber-hot Max Pacioretty has been good for Danault, who has nine points (two goals, seven assists) in the last 13 games, including three multi-point nights. We're in uncharted territory with the 23-year-old Quebec native. Danault's played a career-high 39 games while averaging nearly 16 minutes of ice time per game since early December. So far, he's held up well. When Alex Galchenyuk (knee) returns in early February, he'll take over the top-line center spot, but if Danault continues to play at this level, he should fall no further than the second line.

Danault had a goal and an assist Thursday in Florida.
EDGE Analysis
Danault assisted on Brendan Gallagher's game-tying goal late in regulation, then scored the overtime winner as his team prevailed 3-2. He's skating on a line with Gallagher and Max Pacioretty, which should continue leading to plenty of scoring chances. This was only the 23-year-old's third multi-point effort of the season, but he will likely post many more in 2017.

Danault had an assist, three shots and a blocked shot in 17:35 of ice time in Montreal's 2-1 win over Washington on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Injuries are wreaking havoc on the Canadiens' line combinations, leading to Danault skating on the team's top line Saturday while getting a season-high 1:20 of power play ice time. He has four points in the last five games and is sitting in a good spot right now, centering Max Pacioretty and Alexander Radulov.
