Danault has played in just two NHL games in his career and will be looking to make his season debut Saturday against the Sabres. The 22-year-old registered two points in his six games with AHL Rockford following offseason hip surgery.

The Blackhawks reassigned Danault to AHL Rockford on Monday, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Danault appeared in two games with the Hawks, but failed to crack the score sheet. His departure likely means Andrew Shaw (upper body) is ready to return to the lineup, and even though it may not be this year, it's highly unlikely that we've seen the last of Danault at the NHL level.

Danault saw a little more than 11 minutes of ice time on Saturday in his NHL debut including time on the power play, CSN Chicago reports. Blackhawks' coach Joel Quenneville was impressed with Danault's play, but will need to improve on his face-off percentage which was only 44 percent against the Oilers. "He had the puck a lot," said Quenneville. "He was around it and he was tenacious. He did a real good job." Danault will probably be up with the Hawks until Andrew Shaw returns from his upper-body injury.

Danault will make his NHL debut Saturday night against the Oilers. The 21-year-old was the Blackhawk's first round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, and has been on the team's radar ever since. Danault racked up three goals and seven assists through 14 games with AHL Rockford, and should slot in on the third or fourth line with Andrew Shaw (upper body) sidelined once again.

But the way he plays in the AHL, it was more of a third or fourth-line center, more of a shutdown center. It took some time for him to adapt to that, play in that role and not be relied upon for offense. He'll try to fine-tune his game to be the best defensive forward he could be." Danault had six goals and 26 points in 72 AHL games in 2013-14.

Canada will have Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Ryan Strome, Boone Jenner, Phillip Danault and Nathan MacKinnon down the middle for the tourney that starts later this month. There is no country that can match the Canadians at the key pivot position and it is one of the many reasons Canada is favoured to win gold.

Phillip Danault is red-hot this weekend, compiling his second four-point night in as many days. Danault scored a goal and three assists on Friday and piled up four more helpers on Saturday. Overall, the Chicago Blackhawks prospect has an impressive 44 points in 29 games this season.
