"The Moose" improved his record to 4-1-1 by shutting down the Los Angeles Kings in a 3-0 win.
Martin Brodeur might be the New Jersey Devils' top goalie when it comes to paychecks and name recognition, but Johan Hedberg has been carrying the team for a while now. He stopped all 31 shots last night against a talented opponent, so Peter DeBoer can breathe easy with a future Hall of Famer on the mend. Hedberg should be considered a strong short-term option in net, with reasonable potential to produce future rewards.

Johan Hedberg allowed four goals as New Jersey fell to Pittsburgh 4-1.
Hedberg continues to get starts as Martin Brodeur recovers from injury. Hedberg was not very good on this night as he made 25 saves on 29 shots total. It did not help that his offense mustered just one goal. His season record fell to 3-1-1.

The Devils got another strong goaltending performance from Johan Hedberg in New Jersey's 3-2 victory over the Nashville Predators.
Hedberg had a fantastic season with the Devils in 2010-11 and has been a dependable NHL backup goaltender for the last few years now. If you took a gamble on Martin Brodeur during your fantasy draft, you need to look at picking up Hedberg in order to protect your investment.

Johan Hedberg will make the start for New Jersey on Saturday night.
With Brodeur on the shelf with a sore shoulder, Hedberg will look to stake his claim for the job. It appears to be a solid matchup for Hedberg against the low-scoring Predators.

Johan Hedberg stopped 24 of 26 shots in a 4-2 win Monday.
Although we're use to Devils backups getting next to no playing time - at least when Martin Brodeur is healthy - that might not be the case with Hedberg in 2011-12. He proved that he was a capable backup last season and he might start in about 25 games this season.

Johan Hedberg will be between the pipes for the New Jersey Devils against the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday.
Hedberg had a fantastic season with the Devils in 2010-11 and has been a dependable NHL backup goaltender for the last few years now. The Moose is a capable backup, but a healthy Martin Brodeur will significantly limit the amount of action he sees in 2011-12. If Brodeur goes the entire season without sustaining a major injury, then Hedberg will probably be limited to about 25 starts.

Johan Hedberg made 16 saves as he shutout the New York Islanders 1-0 on Friday.
Hedberg has looked solid in the preseason and should play a key role as Martin Brodeur's backup. Rick DiPietro did a good job at the other end finishing with 20 saves on 21 shots. David Clarkson scored the only goal of the game, assisted by Peter Harrold and Adam Henrique.

Johan Hedberg will play between the pipes in Friday's preseason game against the New York Islanders.
Hedberg will start the season as Martin Brodeur's backup goaltender. That job doesn't usually come with any fantasy value, but Hedberg ended up playing in 34 games last season. If Brodeur stays healthy, Hedberg isn't likely to get much playing time, but Brodeur has missed a significant amount of time due to injuries in two of his last three seasons.
