Johan Hedberg is expected to play between the pipes on Saturday.
Hedberg is projected to serve as the Devils backup goaltender and how much playing time he gets will likely depend on Martin Brodeur. If Brodeur stays healthy and plays like we're use to, Hedberg could be lucky to start in more than 10 games in 2011-12. However, if Brodeur battles injuries again like he has for two of his last three seasons, then Hedberg could have some fantasy value.

Johan Hedberg's one-year contract with the Devils will earn him $1.25 million.
The deal also includes a no-trade clause. Hedberg posted a 15-12-2 record with a .912 save percentage and a 2.38 GAA in 34 games with the Devils last season. He is a capable backup but a healthy Martin Brodeur will limit the amount of the action he sees in 2011-12.

The Devils have re-signed goaltender Johan Hedberg to a one-year deal.
We do not know what the cap hit to New Jersey is at the moment. Hedberg played very well when Martin Brodeur was injured last season and is one of the NHL's most capable backup netminders. The Devils did well to bring him back. He is also a fan favorite in New Jersey.

Johan Hedberg has re-signed with the New Jersey Devils.
The Devils declined to disclosed the length or financial terms of the deal. Hedberg proved to be a great addition by the Devils last season. He filled in nicely when Martin Brodeur was injured and he was a solid backup when Brodeur was healthy. How much Hedberg plays next season will be largely dependent on Brodeur's ability to stay healthy. If Brodeur goes the entire season without sustaining a significant injury, then Hedberg will probably be limited to about 10 starts.

Johan Hedberg hasn't engaged in any contract negotiations with the New Jersey Devils.
Hedberg is interested in re-signing with New Jersey, but we suspect he'll end up becoming an unrestricted free agent on Friday. He should attract some interest after posting a 2.38 GAA and .912 save percentage in 34 games with the Devils.
