Johan Hedberg will start in Friday's game against the New York Islanders. The Devils are also scheduled to play on Saturday, so they're probably saving Martin Brodeur for the second half of their back-to-back games. Hedberg has a 2.45 GAA and .914 save percentage in 11 games.

Johan Hedberg was beaten four times on 37 shots as the Devils dropped a 4-3 decision to Boston Tuesday night. Despite the loss in this contest, Hedberg has been the better of New Jersey's two goaltenders this season, though we expect Martin Brodeur to be back between the pipes for the team's next game.

Johan Hedberg will draw in net for the Devils on Saturday. Martin Brodeur did not play well against the Capitals on Friday so they are going with Hedberg in the rematch. Adjust your rotations accordingly.

Johan Hedberg reported that his back felt "100 percent" on Saturday. He received treatment from the team's medical trainer Rich Stinziano and message therapist Brian Smith on Friday after something popped during the third period of Thursday's game versus Philadelphia. Hedberg should be fine for the next time the Devils decide to call upon his services.

Johan Hedberg felt something pop in his back during Thursday's game, but he managed to stay in for the entire contest. "The good thing was my crouch was the position that felt the best," Hedberg said. "That was the best position to stay in. So, it should be fine tomorrow. Right now, I'm a little stiff." We'll give Hedberg the benefit of the doubt when he said that he'll be fine on Friday, given that he held the Flyers at bay during the remainder of the game and won the shootout. We'll let you know if his status changes.

Johan Hedberg allowed three goals on 23 shots in the Devils' 4-3 shootout victory over the Philadelphia Flyers Thursday night. Hedberg had a fantastic season with the Devils in 2010-11 and has been a dependable NHL backup goaltender for the last few years now. He is taking advantage of the opportunity given to him and could wind up splitting the season with an aging Martin Brodeur.

Johan Hedberg will be between the pipes for New Jersey in Philadelphia on Thursday night. Martin Brodeur returned to action from a shoulder injury on Wednesday night in a 5-3 loss to the Maple Leafs. The Devils probably made this decision before Brodeur was burned the night before to give him some additional rest and because they are committed to using Hedberg more this season.

Johan Hedberg gave up five goals on 42 shots as the New Jersey Devils were beaten 5-3 by Phoenix Thursday. Hedberg has taken over the number one job in New Jersey temporarily as Martin Brodeur is still on the mend. Despite giving up the five, Hedberg has been strong in relief of Brodeur as he is 4-2-1 with a 2.31 GAA and a .926 save percentage. He will play a little more often than back ups in New Jersey are used to, once Brodeur returns as Brodeur is closing in on 40 years of age and the Devils want to save him, hopefully for a playoff run. Hedberg is a great handcuff for Brodeur and you can play him with confidence when he gets a start, even after giving up five to the Coyotes.
