Craig Anderson was not present on the bench because of the coaching staff's concerns about his previous ankle injury.
Anderson was backing up Robin Lehner, who got the call against the Flyers. "It's a strategic thing, I guess. I'm not sure. However the coach explains it, that's good enough," Anderson said of not being on the bench with his teammates. Anderson said he was told he'll start Friday night's game in between the pipes.

Craig Anderson will be between the pipes Sunday on the road against the Florida Panthers.
The Senators number one goaltender missed 19 games with a right ankle injury but is healthy enough to get the start on Sunday. If someone dropped him your league because of his injury, he should be picked up immediately from the free agent pool. He's a must start today against the lowly Panthers.

Craig Anderson (ankle) said he's "anxious" to finally get back in net after missing 18 games.
"It has been a long time now and I've watched a lot of hockey. It's about time for me to get that feeling back, where I can help the team and feel like I'm accomplishing something," Anderson said Thursday. Anderson is expected to be activated in time for Friday night's game against Buffalo and could start against the Sabres. The Senators traded goalie Ben Bishop on Wednesday, leaving Anderson and Robin Lehner as Ottawa's goalies for the remainder of the season.
