Skaggs (1-1) threw seven innings of two-run ball Saturday, walking two and striking out four in a win over the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
The young southpaw has turned things around recently, going seven innings in both of his last two starts, bringing his ERA back down to a respectable 4.44 in the process. Skaggs mixed and matched his pitches well in this one, keeping the ball low and inducing two inning-ending double plays. While fantasy owners are always looking for strikeouts, keeping opposing hitters off balance and inducing weak contact (only one extra-base hit surrendered Saturday) can produce positive results in the ERA category. The 25-year-old has shown inconsistency in the past, so it wouldn't be wise to consider him a must-start going forward, especially with a matchup against the Rangers in Arlington looming Friday.

Skaggs allowed four hits while walking two and striking out nine over seven scoreless innings for a no-decision in Sunday's 1-0 loss to the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
It was a much-needed solid outing for the young lefty who had allowed five earned runs in each of his first two starts of 2016. He kept the walks down again, which is encouraging considering he struggled with command coming back from Tommy John surgery last year. Skaggs now has 19 strikeouts in 17.1 innings. His strikeout abilities are not in question, but he must demonstrate more consistency before he's a viable waiver wire addition in mixed leagues.

Skaggs allowed five runs on eight hits -- including two homers -- over five innings against Texas on Tuesday. He struck out five, walked two and hit a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The young lefty has opened the season with consecutive five-run outings; at least in the last one, he managed to pitch into the sixth inning. Skaggs' swing-and-miss stuff is unquestionable, but his control is suspect and he's been giving up some hard hits. He's a risky, matchup-dependent fantasy option at this point.

Skaggs (0-1) struggled in his first start of the season, giving up five runs on five hits over 5.1 innings Thursday. He walked three and struck out five in a loss to the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs got off to a good start Thursday, cruising through the first two innings before watching his outing unravel in the third. A sudden loss of control -- that was capped off by a two-run homer off the bat of Ryon Healy -- took away any possibility of a strong debut for the young southpaw. Skaggs was a tough pitcher to value this past offseason due to the combination of his high potential and shaky injury history. Seasoned fantasy owners know not to overreact to one poor outing, but those in shallower leagues may want to evaluate whether or not they want to put up with a pitcher who could take them on a roller coaster ride of highs and lows this season. Taking a wait-and-see approach for his next start against a potent Rangers lineup next Wednesday wouldn't be a bad idea.

Skaggs will start Thursday against the A's.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Mike Scioscia had held off on formally naming Skaggs to the rotation, but the expectation all along was that Skaggs would start the fourth game of the season. While Skaggs went just four innings in his final Cactus League start, he built up to 90 pitches in a minor-league outing to close out spring training, so he should be available for a full workload Thursday.

Skaggs threw 90 pitches in a Triple-A game Thursday and appears ready to go for Opening Week, J.P Hoornstra of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs seems slated to start the Angels' fourth game of the season, April 6 in Oakland. However, manager Mike Scioscia continues to hold off on confirming him for the start and says he'll wait "a day or two" before making a final decision. "We're going to follow Tyler very closely in the next couple days, but the workout he had today is definitely indicative of a guy that should be able to fall into our rotation," the skipper said. Skaggs has been working back to full strength after suffering from shoulder fatigue earlier this spring.

Skaggs tossed four innings of one-run ball Saturday, surrendering four hits while striking out three in a win over Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old has looked sharp in three outings since being sidelined with shoulder soreness. While any type of injury should strike fear in the hearts of his owners, it appears that the talented lefty has sidestepped any serious damage. The Angels have yet to announce Skaggs as a part of their rotation, but the pitcher said that he feels ready to go, stating that he should get to 85-90 pitches in his next spring outing. Skaggs remains a high-upside, late-round pitcher, who could outperform his price if his health and production trend in the right direction.

Skaggs struck out five and walked one while tossing four shutout innings against the Brewers in a minor league game Monday, Pedro Moura of the Los Angeles Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
He's on track to open the season in the rotation, which is a very encouraging position after he was slowed by weakness in his left shoulder in early March. According to Moura, Skaggs' fastball topped out at 94 mph, and sat at 91-92. His next start will come Saturday, and he's expected to go five innings in that outing in his second-to-last appearance of the spring.

Skaggs said he passed the team's strength test given the day after his Wednesday return to action, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The exam was given by someone on staff instead of a machine, though the left-hander fared well, either way. Skaggs had suffered from shoulder weakness recently, but his two scoreless innings Wednesday put him back on track to break camp on time as a backend starter. The left-hander, who had spurts of brilliance in 2016 after returning from Tommy John surgery, could break out, or at least provide serviceable starts, for mixed league fantasy players in 2017. The biggest test will come in his walk rate, which proved a tad high at 4.17 in 49.2 innings for the Halos last year.

Skaggs (shoulder) pitched two scoreless innings Wednesday, allowing no hits while striking out two and walking two.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs was scratched from his last start due to shoulder weakness, but the 25-year-old looked good in his first appearance in 11 days. "Everything feels good. Everything feels strong," he noted afterwards. The Angels will likely ease him back into things, as he has a history of shoulder and elbow problems, but he seems to be past the shoulder weakness that was holding him back this spring.
