Skaggs (oblique) made his third rehab start at Triple-A Salt Lake and fourth overall Monday, covering 4.2 innings and surrendering four runs (three earned) on five hits and three walks. He struck out five batters in the outing.
EDGE Analysis
While Skaggs didn't dazzle in the outing, he tossed 85 pitches, an indication that he might be primed to make his next start in the big leagues. According to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register, the Angels are considering Skaggs as an option for Saturday's game against the Athletics, when the Angels will next require a fifth starter following Yusmeiro Petit's return to the bullpen. If Skaggs is activated from the 60-day disabled list to make the start, the Angels likely wouldn't have him up his count much higher than the 85 pitches he tossed Monday, but even four or five quality innings would be useful enough. Injuries have stunted Skaggs' opportunities to establish himself as a mainstay in the big-league rotation, but as a 26-year-old lefty with swing-and-miss stuff, he should remain on the radar in deeper fantasy leagues.

Skaggs (oblique) will make a rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Salt Lake, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Rain cut Skaggs' last rehab outing short, and his performance when on the mound didn't exactly scream "ready," so this comes as no surprise. If all goes well Tuesday, Skaggs, who has posted a 3.99 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 29:9 K:BB at the big-league level this season, could theoretically return the Aug. 6 series finale against Oakland. The Angels could use Skaggs back ASAP -- they are going with Yusmeiro Petit in a bullpen game Saturday with Alex Meyer (shoulder) on the DL.

Skaggs (oblique) will likely require at least one more rehab start after his outing was cut short by rain Thursday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
His outing was off to a rocky start as Skaggs had allowed three runs over 1.2 innings before a rain delay ended his night early. Skaggs was touched up for five earned runs over his first two outings (7.0 IP) entering Thursday and hadn't gone longer than 4.0 innings in either start. With that, the Angels will likely have Skaggs make another start to further build up his pitch count before bringing him back off the disabled list.

Skaggs (oblique) will make his upcoming rehab start with Triple-A Salt Lake, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs made his previous rehab start with the club's Rookie League affiliate, allowing two runs over 3.2 innings. The 26-year-old is expected to at least two more rehab starts before being re-evaluated. It appears that Skaggs could be activated from the DL sometime during August.

Skaggs (oblique) will pitch in a Rookie League game either Sunday or Monday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs has faced multiple setbacks in his recovery from an oblique strain and hasn't appeared in game action since April, so he'll likely need to make several rehab starts before returning to the Angels' rotation. Nonetheless, this is a major step for the lefty and demonstrates his readiness for increased activity after having been scratched from his initial rehab program due to soreness. Expect Skaggs to work his way back for a return sometime in early-August.

Skaggs (oblique) is on track to face hitters during the upcoming week, the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs has been sidelined for more than two months with an oblique injury, but looks to be progressing after he resumed his throwing program in late June. It sounds as though the lefty has advanced to mound work, and facing hitters in batting practice would represent the penultimate step of the recovery process before he heads out on a rehab assignment. Given the length of his absence, Skaggs may need three-to-four rehab starts to build up his arm, making it unwise to expect him to come off the 60-day disabled list before early August.

Skaggs (oblique) was cleared to resume his throwing program Thursday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw underwent an ultrasound Thursday and the results convinced the Angels organization that he's ready to resume throwing. Skaggs, who is currently on the 60-day disabled list with an oblique injury, recently had an issue with his side and was scratched from his scheduled rehab start. Fortunately, with Thursday's ultrasound results, Skaggs should be able to get back on the mound to continue his rehab work in the near future.

Skaggs (oblique) was re-evaluated Wednesday to determine the next step in his rehab, Elliot Teaford of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw's rehab path came into question after he was forced to miss his Saturday rehab start with soreness, so the evaluation will determine whether he will continue his throwing program or take more time off. Regardless, the delay in his rehab is making it more and more unclear when or if he will be able to return this season.

Skaggs (oblique) did not make his scheduled rehab start in the Arizona League on Saturday due to soreness, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs will reportedly continue throwing "as tolerated," though it's unclear as to what that entails in regards to a rehab assignment. It's a rough setback, nonetheless, and could push his return date back until after the upcoming All-Star break. The young southpaw has not pitched since April 28, but should slot back into the Angels' rotation upon his return.

Skaggs (oblique) is scheduled to pitch in an Arizona League game Saturday, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Skaggs has been rehabbing in Arizona for a couple of weeks and appears to be on the cusp of his first live action of 2017. While he still has a ways to go in his rehab before potentially rejoining the rotation, Saturday marks a step in the right direction. A more concrete timetable for his return should be established as he progresses further into the process.
