Shaw is out of the lineup Friday, the Providence Journal's Tim Britton reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite getting two hits in Wednesday's game, Shaw has, on the whole, cooled off considerably at the plate, with his average dipping from .315 to .288 over the past eight games. Allen Craig, who was recently recalled from Triple-A, will get the start at first base and hit fifth Friday.

Shaw is back in the lineup Monday, batting fifth and playing first base against the Yankees, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
After ceding first base to David Ortiz on Sunday as the Red Sox played in a National League park against the Mets, Shaw returns to first base as they return home. He is slumping over the past few days, going just 2-for-19 over the past week, though he's still hitting .303 this season.

Shaw is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets, Mike Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw will sit in favor of David Ortiz (heel) who will return to the lineup and make a rare defensive appearance at first base. With the Red Sox playing a weekend series in a National League park, there's one less spot for these two to share. Look for Shaw to return to action when the Red Sox open up a series with the Yankees on Monday.

Shaw is in the lineup Saturday and will bat cleanup.
EDGE Analysis
David Ortiz is still hampered by a sore heel, so the Red Sox will deploy Shaw at first base for Saturday's game. Shaw has strung together a productive August with a .325/.368/.650 slash line, 12 extra base hits, and 16 RBI. He'll face Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom on Saturday.

Shaw is not in the lineup Friday against the Mets, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw has become a regular in the Red Sox lineup, starting 13 straight games prior to Friday, slashing .333/.376/.667 in August. With the loss of the DH in an NL park though, Shaw will give way to David Ortiz at first base.

Shaw started at first base in place of the slumping Mike Napoli on Tuesday and had three hits in a win over Miami. Shaw, who was called up earlier in the day, is a safe bet to get the start Wednesday. He's not considered a top prospect in the Red Sox organization, but any production out of the first-base position should be rewarded with more at-bats.

Shaw was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports. Shaw will start at first base and bat eighth in Tuesday's game against the Marlins. He got his first 10 big-league plate appearances earlier this season, and he owns a .250/.321/.363 slash line in 278 plate appearance for Triple-A Pawtucket. The 25-year-old Shaw is a middling prospect, but Mike Napoli's continued struggles are forcing the Red Sox to explore other options.

Shaw was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on Saturday, Gordon Edes of ESPN Boston reports. Shaw appeared in five games during his most recent stint with the Red Sox, going 0-for-7 in that span. The Red Sox recalled righty Matt Barnes in a corresponding move to add depth to the bullpen.

Shaw filled in at third base when Pablo Sandoval was forced to leave Saturday's game with a left-ankle injury. Shaw, primarily a first baseman during his minor-league career, has been getting a significant amount of playing time at third base with Triple-A Pawtucket over the last year-plus. With Sandoval in a day-to-day state, the Red Sox may need a fill-in for a few days. Either Shaw or Brock Holt is capable of that.
