Shaw went 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI in Wednesday's spring game against Pittsburgh.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw, a revelation in the final two months of the 2015 season, has not ceded any of last year's hype, going 8-for-14 with two walks in five Grapefruit League games. There's not a starting position for him yet, but Shaw's cementing a spot on the roster as a utility guy that back up at first base, third base and left field -- three positions currently occupied by players that have question marks.

Shaw started at third base and went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Thursday's spring-training game against Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw is off to a nice start this spring -- he had a couple of hits in Monday's game against Boston College -- and has been making good contact in camp. The Red Sox are working him out at first and third base, and later on, he'll get starts in left field. He's not competing with projected starters Hanley Ramirez (1B), Pablo Sandoval (3B) or Rusney Castillo (LF), but if Shaw continues to hit, manager John Farrell will not be reticent to replace under-performing starters.

Shaw will spend time in left field early on in training camp to determine if he's a viable option at the position, the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
As it stands now, Shaw has a good shot at making Boston's roster on his infield work alone, particularly as the Red Sox try out Hanley Ramirez at first base, but by adding outfield to his resume should cement a roster spot for him. Shaw surprised everyone last season, hitting .270 with 13 homers in 248 plate appearances over August and September.

Shaw suffered "an impingement" in his right shoulder during the opener of the Puerto Rico Winter League and will require a few weeks to recover, the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Red Sox executive Dave Dombrowski confirmed the nature of the injury, while stating that Shaw will spend the next two-and-a-half weeks in therapy, thereby ending the winter-ball stint after one game. He should be fine by the time spring training rolls around, at which point he'll compete for a gig in the corner infield.

Shaw went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and two runs against the Yankees on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
That's two homers in the last three days for Shaw, who'd been in a four-game slide before that, going 0-for-15. It's hard to believe that the 25-year-old rookie, who hit only five homers in 77 Triple-A games this year, has hit 13 in 61 games with the Red Sox. If you draft him next year, don't do so with the expectation that he'll find a way to maintain anything resembling that rate.

Shaw went 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in Monday night's win over the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw snapped an 0-for-16 skid with Monday's big night. He has 12 homers in 200 at-bats, an impressive debut for a rookie, but he's not certain to have a role on the team in 2016.

Shaw went 3-for-3 with a walk and two RBI in Boston's loss to Tampa Bay on Tuesday. He's knocked in runs in three straight games.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw is on a bit of roll right now, having hit safely in five straight and reached base safely in 14 straight. He's done enough to warrant consideration to be Boston's first baseman next season, but the elephant in the room is Hanley Ramirez, who has been working out at first base the past few weeks. If the intent is to keep an outfield of Rusney Castillo, Jackie Bradley and Mookie Betts, the the Red Sox will need to put Ramirez somewhere.

Shaw went 3-for-4 with two RBI in Sunday's victory over the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw had a tremendous series against the AL East leaders, going 6-for-11 with two walks over three games. The 25-year-old first baseman is hitting .281 with 11 home runs and 27 RBI in his first major league season.

Shaw was 1-for-4 with a game-tying solo homer and two RBI in Tuesday's 6-5 loss to the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old rookie continues to receive valuable playing time down the stretch and is producing at the plate, with Tuesday's game marking the eighth consecutive contest in which he has reached base safely. Shaw has also displayed consistent power and remains on pace to match his seven-homer August. The young first baseman figures to be one of the centerpieces of the Red Sox future beginning with a chance at an everyday starting job in 2016.

Shaw homered in Tuesday night's loss to the Blue Jays. He's homered in two straight games.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw, who had five homers with a .356 slugging and .674 OPS in 77 games for Triple-A Pawtucket, has increased his production in 41 games with Boston. He's bashed nine homers with a .530 slugging and .847 OPS. He'll continue to get the greater share of starts at first base for the remainder of the season.
