Shaw started at third base and went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk and a run scored in Thursday's spring-training game against Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Shaw is off to a nice start this spring -- he had a couple of hits in Monday's game against Boston College -- and has been making good contact in camp. The Red Sox are working him out at first and third base, and later on, he'll get starts in left field. He's not competing with projected starters Hanley Ramirez (1B), Pablo Sandoval (3B) or Rusney Castillo (LF), but if Shaw continues to hit, manager John Farrell will not be reticent to replace under-performing starters.
