Wright (shoulder) began a throwing program Friday and manager John Farrell said that he is making "tremendous progress", Scott Lauber of ESPN reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is great news, as Wright wasn't expected to start a throwing program until next week. The knuckleballer is expected to head to the Red Sox's training facility in Fort Myers next week to continue ramping up the intensity, which could help him return before the season's end.

Wright (shoulder) is hoping to begin a throwing program next week, Evan Drellich of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright has been shut down since the end of August, but it now appears that the swelling has subsided enough to put forth a tentative timeline to begin throwing. It still remains to be seen if he'll be ready to return in the regular season, but there should be a clearer indication of a timetable after seeing how he responds to next week's throwing session.

The swelling in Wright's sore right shoulder is subsiding, but he's not yet ready to begin throwing, Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright has been shut down since his start Aug. 31 with no timetable for a return. He could be done for the rest of the season. In the meantime, Clay Buchholz is taking his turns through the rotation.

Wright's visit to Dr. Neal ElAttrache revealed no new damage in his injured shoulder, but it remains uncertain if he will pitch again this season, Scott Lauber of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The good news is Wright is not dealing with a more serious setback than he was originally diagnosed with, but his visit to Dr. ElAttrache did nothing to change his vague return timetable. He will likely have to throw pain-free if he is to see any further action for the Red Sox this season.

Wright is expected to meet with Dr. Neal ElAttrache this week for an evaluation of his right shoulder, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Since ElAttrache is based on the West Coast, Wright will travel with the Red Sox to San Diego for their upcoming series with the Padres, but he's already been scratched from his scheduled start Tuesday. Clay Buchholz is slated to fill in for Wright, and could remain in the rotation beyond Tuesday if the knuckleballer's shoulder issue proves to be more than a short-term concern. Wright isn't believed to be dealing with any structural issues with his shoulder, but he's still experiencing pain when he throws, which obviously isn't an ideal situation. Given Wright's existing injury concerns along with his 5.06 ERA since the All-Star break, it's probably justifiable to drop him in certain shallower formats, despite his generally strong performance throughout the season.

Wright (shoulder) will not guarantee that he'll pitch again this season, Sean McAdam of CSN New England reports.
EDGE Analysis
At this point, Wright will miss at least one start -- Clay Buchholz will start in his place Tuesday -- but the knuckleballer can't seem to shake his shoulder injury. He complained of some restriction in the area after making his between-start bullpen session, and the Red Sox will have him visit a specialist in Southern California in the next few days. Structurally, the shoulder is fine. It's just a matter of pain management and tolerance.

Wright is headed for a second opinion on his shoulder and will miss his next start, Evan Drellich of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
The knuckleballer was able to return Friday but he didn't look like himself, and it was revealed after the game that the shoulder is still presenting issues. Wright will be sent for an exam and we should have a better idea of where he stands once the results are made public, but Wright will miss one turn at the very least. Manager John Farrell said Clay Buchholz will likely be Wright's replacement in the rotation.

Wright is still feeling soreness in his shoulder and is uncertain to make his next scheduled start Tuesday, Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright returned to action last Friday after missing three weeks with shoulder soreness, and also took the ball Wednesday, but he allowed nine earned runs over 10 innings in those games, and it appears he is not out of the woods with his shoulder injury just yet. Wright's status for his next start will ultimately be determined based on how he feels over the next couple days.

Wright allowed four runs on seven hits, struck out three and walked three over 4.0 innings in a no-decision versus Tampa Bay on Wednesday afternoon.
EDGE Analysis
Since pitching a complete-game shutout on Aug. 5, he's taken a stint on the disabled list due to a shoulder injury and then allowed nine runs in 10 innings in his first two outings back. Wright has yielded two home runs in two straight outings for the first time all season. Prior to Aug. 26, he had not allowed a multi-homer game this year. Wright is 13-6 with a 3.33 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 127 strikeouts in 156.2 innings. He is scheduled to face San Diego in his next outing on Tuesday.

Wright allowed five runs on seven hits and three walks while striking out one over six innings in Friday night's loss to the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Wright, who hadn't pitched since Aug. 5, had trouble finding a release point in the first inning, walking a couple of batters and giving up two homers, putting Boston behind, 5-0, early. Other than that, he was fine. With a little luck or timely hitting, he might have escaped. While holding the Royals scoreless the rest of the way, Boston's offense racked up 15 hits, but left 12 men on base, including going 0-for-2 (two strikeouts) with the bases loaded. With his return to the rotation out of the way, Wright will look to build off his final five scoreless innings next Wednesday when he faces the Rays in Boston.
