Wright (shoulder) threw off flat ground from 90 feet Friday, Julian Benbow of the Boston Globe reports. "The range of motion is improved over the last 24 hours, the strength," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. "He's not symptom-free, but still there's a marked improvement."
EDGE Analysis
After watching Wright throw, an encouraged Farrell was hopeful the knuckleballer will make his next scheduled start Thursday. The next step is getting Wright to throw off a mound early next week to determine if he'll be able to make the next start.

Wright has improved range of motion and diminished soreness in his shoulder, Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager John Farrell said Wright is being checked daily to determine when the club feels confident to have him start throwing. The knuckleballer was injured while pinch running last Sunday when he dived back to the bag during a fake pickoff attempt. His turn through the rotation is being skipped as Clay Buchholz will start in his place Saturday.

Wright's shoulder injury was sustained while pinch running in last Sunday's game against the Dodgers, Evan Drellich of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright entered the game as a pinch runner for David Ortiz, who had reached second base after a walk and a single. The pitcher jammed his shoulder while diving back to the bag after he'd taken a large enough lead to prompt a pick-off attempt. At this point, the disabled list is not in the discussion, but missing even one start from Wright is dangerous given the shaky nature of the Red Sox starting staff.

Wright was scratched from Thursday's start after jamming his shoulder, Sean McAdam of Comcast Sports Net reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eduardo Rodriguez is now scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Yankees in place of Wright. A timeframe for Wright's return is unknown at this point in time, however the team is optimistic that he won't need a stint on the DL.

Wright hurled a complete game shut out Friday night, giving up three hits and walking just one while striking out nine in a 9-0 win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
The performance was a marked departure from his previous two starts when he allowed 24 baserunners and 11 runs in 9.2 innings. We couldn't help but wonder if Wright's story-book season was collapsing, but he certainly righted himself in Dodger Stadium. At one point, the right-hander retired 15 straight. His knuckle ball was so effective that when he mixed in a fastball, it was overwhelmingly positive. Of his 13 fastballs, six were taken for strikes, two were fouled off, three were put in play for outs, and two were taken for balls. Wright's next start is tentatively scheduled for next Thursday against the Yankees.

Wright (12-5) allowed three runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings, but received no decision Sunday at the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Wright fired four shutout innings before getting tagged for three runs in the fifth inning to leave the contest with a 3-0 deficit. However, the Red Sox came up with a big ninth-inning to take him off the hook for a potential loss. After an amazing start to the season, he's now failed to post a quality start in five of his last seven outings to raise his ERA to 3.20 on the year. He'll make his next start Friday at the Dodgers.

Wright allowed eight runs on nine hits and three walks over 4.2 innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Miguel Cabrera touched up Wright for a first inning home run, but after that, he was singled to death, as the home run was the only extra-base hit Wright allowed. Still, the knuckleball just wasn't fooling anyone -- he induced just five swinging strikes over 84 pitches. This marks his worst start of the season -- he allowed eight runs June 25th against Texas, but only three were earned, and he had yet to allow more than five earned runs in a start all year long prior to Tuesday.

Wright (12-5) struck out nine while allowing just two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk over eight sparkling innings in Thursday's win over Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
The knuckleballer's been waiver-wire gold for fantasy owners, having delivered nine wins in his last 12 starts while keeping his ERA under the 3.00 mark. Wright had a few not-so-impressive starts heading into the All-Star break, but has emerged with two quality outings in a row. That said, his strikeout rate trends mediocre and the peripherals don't like him; he remains a legitimate fantasy asset, but there's probably some second-half regression coming.

Wright (11-5) gave up three earned runs on three hits and a walk over six innings in Friday's 5-3 victory over the Yankees. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The knuckleballer was sharp in his first second-half start, collecting 11 swinging strikes on the night and keeping the Yankees relatively unbalanced throughout his six frames. Wright fell behind plenty-- notching first-pitch strikes on only eight of 23 batters-- but was able to largely work through it in what was a solid bounce-back performance. The 31-year-old had been hit hard in his last start on July 6 against the Rangers despite notching a victory, during which he'd given up six runs (five earned) on nine hits over six innings. Wright will go for his fourth straight win against the Twins next Thursday.

Wright will be the starting pitcher for Boston's first game after the All-Star break Friday, MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
There had been some earlier reports that the Red Sox were calling up Eduardo Rodriguez to start Friday, but it will be Wright. The All-Star pitcher will have plenty of rest, having last pitched July 6.
