Vogt will undergo surgery on his right foot on October 14th, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports. Vogt was prepared to undergo surgery to repair a plantar plate tear in his foot, and after seeking a second opinion, will correct the issue early in the offseason. He still expects to be ready by the start of spring training next season.

Vogt will likely undergo offseason surgery to repair a plantar plate tear in his foot, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Vogt will still seek a second opinion, but ultimately correcting the issue this offseason seems to be a high priority. Even if he does undergo the surgery, the As expect him to be ready by the start of spring training in 2015.

Vogt was added to the lineup for Saturday's game against the Rangers, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports. Vogt was not in the original lineup for the A's, but the Rangers scratched lefty Derek Holland (head) and are now starting righty Scott Baker, so A's manager Bob Melvin switched from a righty-heavy lineup to a lefty-heavy one. Vogt will hit seventh and replace Nate Freiman at first base.

Vogt (ankle) is back in the lineup Friday against the Phillies, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports. As of Monday, Vogt was still battling soreness in his sprained left ankle, but he will return to the lineup Friday, at first base no less. It will be his first start since Sept. 3, but given the nature of the injury, it's possible the team will restrict him from starting back-to-back games in the immediate future.

Vogt (ankle) remains out of the lineup Thursday against the Rangers. The 29-year-old drew a walk in a pinch-hit appearance Wednesday, his first appearance since Sept. 3, and was promptly lifted for a pinch runner. It's uncertain whether Vogt will be able to play the field at all over the remainder of the regular season, but he figures to remain limited to bench duty at least through the weekend.

Vogt (ankle) could be available to pinch hit in a few days, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Manager Bob Melvin is now optimistic about Vogt's chances of being available off the bench at some point during the homestand, a day after saying simply that Vogt was "not there yet." It's uncertain, however, whether Vogt will be able to play the field at all over the remainder of the season.

Vogt (ankle) won't be ready to go when the A's begin their homestand against the Rangers on Tuesday. A's manager Bob Melvin said about Vogt: "Yesterday he was a little bit sore, based on what they had him do the day before. But I said from the beginning this may be a while. I'm almost positive he won't be available the day we get back, and a lot of times with these type of things, there is one day that maybe gets you going in the right direction. He's not there yet." Vogt's inability to play, combined with injuries to John Jaso and Geovany Soto, are forcing Derek Norris to catch nearly game, and Norris is starting to break down. Vogt might return later in the week, but there's no guarantees.

A's manager Bob Melvin said he is hopeful Vogt (ankle) will be available for the team's final homestand, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. A return for this weekend's series in Seattle has been ruled out, but it sounds like Vogt has a chance to play to play at some point next week. However, the homestand runs through Sept. 24 and Melvin did not specify a date, so he may not return until the final week of the season. Thus, Vogt makes for a difficult hold in most fantasy leagues.

Vogt (ankle) is in a walking boot and won't travel to Chicago on the team's upcoming road trip, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports. His sprained left ankle will force him to miss the A's next six games, but he could rejoin the team for next weekend's series in Seattle if the swelling lessens. However, in many leagues, holding a player like Vogt while we know he won't play for about a week doesn't make sense when there are probably similar options on the waiver wire. Brandon Moss should continue to see most of the starts at first base in his stead.
