Vogt rolled his ankle during Monday's game against the Astros but the injury is not believed to be serious, John Hickey of the Oakland Tribune reports. Vogt should be considered day-to-day moving forward, although the early word out of Oakland is not overly concerning for his viability moving forward. That said, his status for Tuesday's game against the Astros is still in question.

Vogt is out of the lineup Saturday against the Mariners. Josh Phegley will take over behind the plate and bat seventh with lefty J.A. Happ on the mound for the opposition, pushing Vogt to the bench for the second time this season. Vogt has hit safely in his first four games to begin the year, totaling five hits, including a double and a homer, in 14 at-bats. He should continue to start against nearly all right-handed pitchers.

Vogt had a nice start to the season, going 2-for-4 with a three-run bomb. Vogt looks healthy after struggling with a foot injury throughout the second half of 2014. Vogt was discounted in drafts due to the fact that he is not catcher eligible in many leagues, but after catching on Monday, he is on his way to grabbing catcher eligibility a few weeks into the season and could be a nice value in leagues once he obtains it.

Vogt (foot) is expected to run the bases Friday or Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Now close to five months removed from foot surgery, Vogt has progressed to the point where he can run the bases, typically the final hurdle a player must clear before returning to game action. A's manager Bob Melvin said Vogt will get at-bats as the DH in spring games soon, assuming everything goes well with the baserunning.

Vogt is still rehabbing his surgically-repaired foot and will not play in early spring training games, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports.Vogt is not 100 percent. Last season, he batted .254 with 13 home runs, 35 RBI, and one stolen base over 84 games. While Vogt is a merely a backup catcher who generally only works behind the plate against right-handed pitchers, he also sees time at first base and in the outfield, giving him additional at-bats.
