Vogt is back in the lineup Wednesday, batting cleanup against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
With the Angels starting righty Matt Shoemaker on Wednesday, the left-handed hitting Vogt will get the start behind the plate for the A's. Vogt has had uncharacteristic struggles against right-handers this season, however, going just 3-for-19 with five strikeouts after slashing .268/.353/.479 against them last season. Furthermore, Vogt has struggled against Shoemaker in his career, going 3-for-15 against him with four strikeouts. Two of his hits off Shoemaker have gone for home runs, however.

Vogt is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
He's hitting .250 through his first seven games, but it appears to just be a regular day off for Vogt after catching five games in a row. Josh Phegley will fill in behind the plate in his stead and bat second against Hector Santiago.

Vogt indicated on Tuesday that while his surgically repaired elbow is close, it is still not totally where he wants it to be, reports John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group.
EDGE Analysis
It sounds like Vogt is anxious to get back to completely full strength even though the doctors have told him that he is fine. The elbow has not hampered Vogt's bat so far this spring with a 1.137 OPS over 24 at-bats, but it could keep him from starting multiple games in a row behind the plate, at least early in the season. The A's will likely use games when they face lefties as a way to rest Vot and his elbow, but they will want his bat in against righties and that could mean some games at DH or first base.

Vogt (elbow) will be behind the plate for Monday's spring game against the Giants, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the elbow proving no major hindrance during a throwing workout Saturday, the training staff has given Vogt the green light to catch for the first time this spring. Vogt underwent arthroscopic elbow surgery in late January and was given a 4-to-6 week estimated recovery timetable.

Vogt (elbow) will go through a throwing workout Saturday and could return to catching as early as next week, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Vogt's elbow is nearing full strength, but he'll remain in a DH role Saturday with the hope that if his throwing workout goes well he'll be able to make his spring debut behind the plate sometime early next week. Barring a setback, Vogt should have to trouble being ready for Opening Day.

Vogt will test his elbow by throwing to the bases Wednesday, the Oakland Tribune's John Hickey reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is the last step before Vogt will re-enter the lineup and catch in a game. Given his progress, it would not be surprising to see him return behind the dish for a game this weekend.

Vogt (elbow) will see some pinch-hit at-bats during Friday's spring game, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
It seemed Vogt would not make his spring debut until sometime next week, but it appears his elbow is feeling better than expected. If Vogt comes out of Friday's game unscathed, manager Bob Melvin is planning to use him as the starting DH in Saturday's spring game.

Vogt (elbow) has begun taking live batting practice and is on track to return during Oakland's second week of spring training games, Joe Stiglich of CSN California reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran catcher continues to make progress from offseason elbow surgery and has now begun taking live batting practice. The A's start their spring training exhibition schedule Thursday against the Angels, so the expectation is for Vogt to be on the diamond at some point next week provided he continues his rehab with no setbacks.
