Roy Oswalt was not offered arbitration by the Phillies.
Oswalt was the lone Type A free agent (at least among those who were contractually-eligible) who did not receive an offer of arbitration. He has drawn interest from several teams already this winter, but the Phillies didn't want to take the risk that he would accept. The 34-year-old right-hander earned $16 million in 2011.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe reports that Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington met with Bob Garber, free agent Roy Oswalt's agent, last week.
Oswalt didn't have a great season with the Phillies, posting a 3.69 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and career-low 6.0 K/9 rate, but that hasn't kept a good number of teams from expressing interest in him. In addition to the Red Sox, the Yankees, Royals and Nationals appear to have interest, and the Phillies also want to re-sign him.

According to the Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro, the Diamondbacks are unlikely to make a run at Roy Oswalt, citing the team's interest in the free agent as "low."
Arizona was said to be one of many teams interested in acquiring Oswalt, but it appears they have decided to go in another direction. Still, many clubs remain interested in the veteran right-hander, including the Royals, Phillies, Nationals and Yankees. He seems in no hurry to make a decision.

Troy Renck of the Denver Post reports that the Rockies are being "aggressive" in their pursuit of Roy Oswalt.
Renck hears that the interest is mutual, but that there's "no rush" toward a resolution. The 34-year-old right-hander dealt with back problems throughout the 2011 season but still posted a 3.69 ERA and 93/39 K/BB ratio over 139 innings. He has plenty of suitors already, so the Rockies would appear to be an unlikely destination.

Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr. is scheduled to meet with Bob Garber, the agent for Roy Oswalt and C.J. Wilson, on Wednesday in Milwaukee.
It would probably be more helpful if we listed the teams that Garber isn't meeting with. It's frankly a longshot that Oswalt returns to the Phillies next season while Wilson is likely to to fetch the biggest contract of any starting pitcher this winter. Amaro shocked the baseball world last winter, but don't look for any surprises this time around.

According to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick, the Royals only have "minimal" interest in free agent Roy Oswalt.
Kansas City is simply checking in on the 34-year-old, although the two sides may meet later on this week. Oswalt is also drawing interest from the Diamondbacks, Nationals and Phillies after posting a 3.69 ERA and 93/39 K/BB ratio over 139 innings for Philadelphia in 2011.

The Royals are expected to meet with Roy Oswalt's agent this week in Milwaukee.
That meeting will either take place Tuesday or Wednesday at the GM Meetings. Oswalt is also drawing interest from the Diamondbacks, Nationals and Phillies, and should manage to land a decent incentives-based contract this winter. He posted a 3.69 ERA and 93/39 K/BB ratio over 139 innings in 2011.

Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports that the Diamondbacks have "at least some level of interest" in Roy Oswalt.
We can safely say that the D-Backs evaluating the market for starting pitchers, as Piecoro reported earlier in the day Monday that they also appear to have interest Mark Buehrle and Hiroki Kuroda. Oswalt, 34, has already drawn interest from the Nationals, Yankees, Rangers and Rockies, among others. The Phillies remain in contact with the veteran right-hander, but he's likely a longshot to return to Philadelphia in 2012.

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, the Phillies are "still talking" to free agent right-hander Roy Oswalt.
However, it's not clear where he falls on their priority list relative to Ryan Madson and Michael Cuddyer. Oswalt, 34, was limited to 23 starts this season due to a nagging back condition, but that hasn't stopped multiple teams from expressing interest, including the Nationals.

According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Nationals are planning a "major push" for Roy Oswalt.
The Yankees and Rangers are also thought to have interest, but the Nationals may be a little more intrigued than those other two teams about bringing the veteran right-hander aboard. Oswalt dealt with back problems throughout the 2011 season but still posted a 3.69 ERA and 93/39 K/BB ratio over 139 innings. He'd be joining Stephen Strasburg, Jordan Zimmermann, John Lannan and Chien-Ming Wang in the D.C. rotation.
