D'Backs GM Kevin Towers said he's not expecting a major outburst of power from Paul Goldschmidt. "We've got power throughout our lineup," Towers told the Associated Press. "If the power comes, great, but finding a way to get on base, if it is a walk or a base hit, I will take that from him." Goldschmidt tallied eight homers and 26 RBI in 48 major-league games last season and 30 homers and 94 RBI in 103 games at Double-A Mobile. He should make a fine fantasy first baseman in 2012.

Paul Goldschmidt is starting at first base for Game 5 of the NLDS against the Brewers. Goldschmidt was on the bench in favor of Lyle Overbay for Game 1 of the series when Yovani Gallardo was the opposing pitcher, but the youngster is getting a shot against Gallardo Friday. The rookie is 5-for-11 with a pair of homers and six RBI in his three playoff starts.

Paul Goldschmidt had a grand slam and an RBI single in Tuesday's Game 3 win over the Brewers. Goldschmidt sat out the first game in favor of Lyle Overbay, but he's homered in the last two. It's doubtful he'll find the bench again in the postseason.

Paul Goldschmidt connected on his first career postseason homer in Sunday's NLDS loss to the Brewers. It was Goldschmidt's only hit in four at-bats, and came off right-hander Daniel Hudson. Goldschmidt has fared well against righties this season, and could be back in the lineup to face another one (Shaun Marcum) in Game 3.

Paul Goldschmidt is in the lineup at first base for Game 2 of the NLDS against the Brewers. Lyle Overbay got the start in Game 1 and went hitless in three at-bats, so Goldschmidt will get a shot against Zack Greinke. The rookie hit .174 over his final seven games of the season but slugged .474 with eight homers over 156 at-bats on the year.

Paul Goldschmidt delivered a go-ahead triple in the bottom of the eighth as the Diamondbacks beat the Giants 3-1 on Friday to clinch the NL West. Goldschmidt also walked and scored Arizona's first run against Matt Cain in the seventh. His triple came after Cain was removed from the game, though both runs were charged to Cain. It was his first in 43 major league games, but it gave him 26 RBI in 142 at-bats. He deserves to be Arizona's primary first baseman in the postseason.

Paul Goldschmidt homered and drove in three runs in Sunday's win over the Padres. Goldschmidt's homer in the sixth gave the D'Backs the lead, and his RBI single in the seventh and sac fly in the ninth provided insurance. He also added his fourth stolen base of the season. The rookie first baseman is batting .262/.340/.500 with eight homers and 34 RBI over his first 130 major league at-bats.

Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a solo homer and two strikeouts on Thursday night. Another homer, another string of K's for the rookie first baseman. He has a very impressive .505 slugging percentage through 109 at-bats. But he's also accumulated a 39/11 K/BB ratio. Nonetheless, the Diamondbacks have found another offensive weapon as they draw closer to a playoff berth.

Paul Goldschmidt contributed a solo homer and an RBI single in Arizona's win Saturday. He struck out in his other two at-bats, giving him 32 strikeouts in just 89 at-bats for the Diamondbacks. But while that isn't a good sign for the future, he's been a productive first baseman thus far with his six homers and 16 RBI.

Paul Goldschmidt went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI in Thursday's win over the Nationals. Goldschmidt's bomb of the season came against Nats' All-Star setup man Tyler Clippard. It's his fifth longball in 65 at-bats this month, so while he hitting just .262 and striking out at an alarming rate, the D'Backs overall have to be pleased with what the rookie has given them to this point.
