Paul Goldschmidt (back) remains out of the Diamondbacks' starting lineup on Saturday due to a strained back.
D'Backs skipper Kirk Gibson said Goldschmidt was feeling better, but that he didn't want to push it. It seems likely that he'll be able to return on Sunday.

Paul Goldschmidt was scratched from Friday's lineup against the Cubs due to a sore back.
It's probably safe to call him day-to-day. Mike Jacobs will fill in at first base.

Paul Goldschmidt had a monster game in Tuesday's 7-1 victory over the Giants, going 1-for-2 with a homer and five RBI.
Goldschmidt got the Diamondbacks on the board with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, and added a three-run bomb off Tim Lincecum in the third. He'd add another sacrifice fly in the fifth for good measure. The 24-year-old slugger has developed into one of the finest first baseman in the National League this season, hitting .288/.363/.493 with 19 bombs, 81 RBI and 16 stolen bases.

Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and RBI in Wednesday evening's 3-0 win over the Marlins.
The Diamondbacks swept the first double-header in Chase Field history. The twin-bill came about following a scheduling snafu by Major League Baseball. Goldschmidt finished his day 2-for-7, and is now batting .295/.357/.526 on the year. He has 17 extra-base hits and 24 RBI in 38 games since the All-Star break.

Paul Goldschmidt went 1-for-4 with an RBI double and a stolen base as the Diamondbacks topped the Astros 3-1 on Friday.
Goldschmidt's RBI double off Fernando Rodriguez provided a valuable insurance run in the eighth inning. The 24-year-old first baseman is enjoying a phenomenal season in the middle of the Diamondbacks lineup, hitting .298 with 18 homers, 63 RBI and 12 stolen bases. At this rate, he'll finish as a top-10 option at his position and will garner plenty of attention heading into next season's drafts.

Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-4 with an RBI as the Diamondbacks beat the Mets 11-5 on Friday.
The Diamondbacks scored 11 runs without any homers and just two doubles. Both of Goldschmidt's hits were singles. It's pretty incredible to see him with a .290 average this late in the year, particularly after his .193 month of April.

Paul Goldschmidt homered, doubled and drove in four runs in Sunday's 7-1 win over the Dodgers.
He took Chris Capuano deep for a three-run bomb in the fifth, and also drew a walk. On fire since mid-June, Goldschmidt closes out the first half hitting .302/.368/.552 to go along with 37 extra-base hits and 42 RBI through Arizona's first 85 games. Thanks to his continued struggles against right-handed pitching, Goldschmidt isn't a particularly compelling trade target, but there's no reason to sell if you're an owner in a 12-team mixed league.
