Mike Leake was charged with five runs in 6 1/3 innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Cardinals. That probably overstates his struggles. Leake did give up a hit, a walk and a three-run homer in the third, but those were the only runs he allowed until the seventh, when two of his baserunners scored off relievers. Leake has given up 21 earned runs over 29 1/3 innings in his last five starts, so mixed leaguers may want to go in a different direction with him scheduled to pitch in Coors Field next time out.

Mike Leake allowed four runs in six innings to earn the win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday. Leake was spotted an eight-run lead and was able to make it stand up, allowing six hits while not walking a batter in his six innings. Despite some good performances in between, the win was Leake's first since July 24 and moved him to 11-5 on the year. He'll go for two in a row when he takes on the Cardinals in St. Louis on Monday.

Mike Leake allowed four runs over five innings Friday in a no-decision against the Brewers. Leake wasn't particularly sharp, giving up nine hits and two walks, but he was in position for the victory until Alfredo Simon gave up the tying run in the sixth inning. The 25-year-old right-hander is now winless over his last four starts while his ERA is now above 3.00 (3.01) for the first time since the end of May. He'll face the Diamondbacks next week at home.

Mike Leake held the Padres to two runs -- one earned -- on six hits over seven innings in a no-decision Sunday. He struck out four and walked three. It was an encouraging bounce back start for Leake, who allowed seven runs over five innings one week ago in a loss to the Cardinals. Leake (10-5, 2.86 ERA) doesn't strike out a ton of batters and owns an unsustainably high strand rate at the moment, so we'd bet A-Rod's centaur portrait that he doesn't end the season with an ERA below 3. Even so, he remains a solid mixed league starter.

Mike Leake was shelled for seven runs on eight hits over five innings Sunday in a loss to the Cardinals. Leake showed up to the park without his good stuff, walking two and striking out three. To Leake's credit, it seemed as though no pitcher in baseball could have solved St. Louis' offense this afternoon. After Leake was yanked at just 76 pitches, the Reds' bullpen surrendered eight runs over just four innings. Collectively, the Cincinnati staff required 160 pitches to escape nine innings. Coming off seven shutout frames against the Padres on Monday, it was a disappointing afternoon for Leake, who dropped to 10-5 with a 2.94 ERA and 1.20 WHIP.

Mike Leake fired seven shutout innings against the Padres on Monday. He scattered four hits, struck out five and walked two in the no-decision. Leake was in line for his 11th win before Aroldis Chapman coughed up a 1-0 lead in the ninth inning. Leake continues to defy his peripherals, which suggest that a pitcher with his low strikeout rate and unsustainably-high strand rate can't sustain a 2.59 ERA. He'll need his best stuff on Sunday against the Cardinals.

Mike Leake held the Giants to one run despite allowing 12 hits over six innings in Wednesday's victory. He struck out two and walked two. Leake didn't surrender a home run, good news after he'd allowed six over his last three starts. The right-hander, who has won three straight starts, improves to 10-4 with a 2.73 ERA.

Mike Leake yielded three runs on six hits over 5 2/3 innings Friday in a victory over the Pirates. He struck out five and walked three. Leake gave up three homers in the outing, all of them coming when he ran out of gas in the sixth inning. After tossing five shutout frames, Leake served up bombs to Starling Marte, Andrew McCutchen and Russell Martin, interspersed by a pair of fly outs. Leake has now allowed six homers over his last three starts. In winning this evening, he improves to 9-4 with a 2.79 ERA.

Mike Leake pitched 8 1/3 innings of two-run ball Wednesday in the Reds' 6-2 win over the Brewers. Dusty Baker sent Leake back out for the ninth, only to pull him because he allowed a single with one out. Apparently, Baker was only going to let him go the distance if he went three up, three down. The single was just the fourth hit allowed by Leake on the day. Oddly enough, he did walk four. He had gone eight straight starts without ever walking more than one batter.

Mike Leake yielded four runs over five innings Friday in a loss to the Mariners. It was the first time Leake had allowed more than three earned runs in a start since way back on May 8. He gave up five hits (including two homers) and one walk while striking out a pair. He'll attempt to rebound next week against the Brewers in Milwaukee.
