Mike Leake surrendered four earned runs in six innings Wednesday in the Reds' loss to the Brewers. It was the third straight four-run outing for Leake, who now has a 3.73 ERA on the year. He didn't walk a batter Wednesday at Miller Park, but the Brewers pounded him for 11 hits -- including a homer, a double, and a triple. Leake will try to right the ship next week at home against the Diamondbacks.

Mike Leake allowed four runs over seven innings in Friday's loss to the Yankees. The difference in the ballgame was a two-run homer from Jacoby Ellsbury in the fifth inning. Leake yielded eight hits and two walks to go along with five strikeouts. He's now 7-8 on the year, but still owns a fine 3.63 ERA over 20 starts. Up next is a start against the division-rival Brewers.

Mike Leake yielded three runs -- two earned -- in seven innings Monday as part of the Reds' 9-3 win over the Cubs. Except for a poor run in the first half of June, Leake has been excellent all year. He's gone at least five innings in all 18 of his starts, and he's currently on pace for career-best strikeout and walk rates. There isn't much reason to expect a slowdown now.

Mike Leake didn't have his best stuff Tuesday, yielding 11 hits and three runs over 5 2/3 innings in a loss to the Padres. Leake worked eight innings of one-run ball in each of his last two victories. So of course he lays an egg tonight against the worst offense in baseball. Leake didn't walk a batter, which is why he only gave up three runs, but San Diego treated him like a pitching machine. The right-hander had been gunning for a career-best fourth straight win. He whiffed four tonight. Reds manager Bryan Price believes Leake could increase his strikeout rate, but the club and pitcher are both content with his (previously) efficient approach for now. Now 6-7 with a 3.47 ERA, Leake gets the Cubs next week.

Mike Leake restricted the Giants to one run over eight innings, striking out 12, to propel the Reds to a 3-1 victory on Thursday. Leake's only sin was an Adam Duvall solo homer in the seventh inning when the Reds held a 3-0 lead. It's understandable if Leake napped through that at-bat: Tonight was Duvall's major league debut. Leake has won three straight starts, receiving a collective 19 runs of support he didn't need, allowing six runs over 21 innings. Leake will carry a solid 3.41 ERA and 1.14 WHIP into a nice matchup when he takes the mound in San Diego on Tuesday.

Mike Leake fired eight innings of one-run ball Saturday in the Reds' rout of the Blue Jays. Leake held the dangerous Toronto offense to four hits over his eight impressive frames, issuing two walks but striking out six. It was a nice bounceback outing for the right-hander, who had been struggling in June. He will carry a solid 3.59 ERA and 1.19 WHIP into his next start on the road against the Giants.

Mike Leake allowed four runs on nine hits over five innings in a win over the Brewers on Sunday. Leake struggled for the third straight start, but his offense was able to give him his fourth win. The right-hander walked three and struck out three to go with his nine hits allowed. After the promising start to his year, Leake is now 4-6 with a 3.80 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. He draws one of the most potent offenses in baseball Saturday when the Reds face off with the Blue Jays.

Mike Leake allowed five earned runs in five innings as the Reds fell to the Giants on Thursday. Leake yielded eight hits -- tying a season-high -- in the rough outing against NL West-leading San Francisco. He still has a cool 3.29 ERA and 1.11 WHIP on the year, and will look to bounce back next week against the Dodgers. The right-hander struck out six Giants batters and walked just one in Thursday's loss.

Mike Leake pitched well in a losing effort against the Cardinals on Sunday, surrendering two runs on seven hits over his six innings of work. Leake punched out eight on the evening while walking two. He was certainly good enough to win, but Adam Wainwright was simply too much on the other side of the diamond. Now 2-4 on the season, Leake will carry a strong 2.92 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 46/14 K/BB ratio into Friday's start against the Diamondbacks in Arizona.

Mike Leake pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed one run in a no-decision versus the Nationals on Monday. Leake allowed his first run on his 110th and final pitch of the night. He left with a one-run lead, only to lose the win when Aroldis Chapman gave it up in the ninth. As a result, he's still winless since April 15, even though he's gone at least 6 2/3 innings in six straight starts and allowed a total of six runs in his last four.
