Davidson underwent surgery Friday to repair a fracture in his right foot.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old returned to the major leagues Thursday following a nearly three-year absence, but in a stroke of horrible luck, he broke his foot in his first game with the White Sox. A screw was inserted into Davidson's foot to stabilize the fracture. His timetable is unclear, but Davidson will undergo X-rays in two weeks and the team will map out a recovery plan at that time.

Davidson (foot) was placed on the 15-day DL on Friday after breaking his foot during Thursday's game against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Davidson was called up to the team Thursday prior to the game, but then suffered a fractured right foot while running the bases in the fourth inning of the contest. He will likely miss a couple of weeks, but should be able to come back to the team in August depending on his recovery and rehab. In a corresponding move, the team recalled Carlos Sanchez from Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.

Davidson (foot) fractured his right foot during Thursday's win against the Twins, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davidson was called up to the White Sox prior to the game against Minnesota, and went 1-for-2 with one RBI before coming out of the game in the sixth inning. Before Thursday's game, Davidson had not played in a major league contest since 2013 with the Diamondbacks. Davidson will miss significant time with this injury, and will not be back until late August at the earliest. He will be reevaluated by team doctors Friday.

Davidson suffered a fractured right foot Thursday, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is a tough turn of events for Davidson as he had just been recalled Thursday for the first time in 2016. According to Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times, Davidson suffered the injury while rounding first during Thursday's contest. He figures to miss at least a couple of weeks, so he'll likely require a stint on the disabled list. An official roster move figures to be made late Thursday or early Friday.

Davidson was recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The 25-year-old Davidson has played exclusively at the Triple-A level since the beginning of 2014, displaying above-average power without the contact skills to match. He does seem to have taken a step forward this season, dropping his strikeout rate below 30 percent (26.4) while posting a .268/.349/.444 batting line. With the White Sox badly in need of infield depth, Davidson could draw a couple starts per week at the corner spots, likely serving as the top backup to both Jose Abreu and Todd Frazier.

The White Sox are expected to recall Davidson from Triple-A Charlotte on Thursday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move is not yet official, but Davidson was a healthy scratch from Wednesday's game and the team optioned Matt Purke later in the evening. The move would bolster an incredibly thin White Sox bench, and he could see time at DH and both corner infield spots. Davidson is in the midst of his best season in the White Sox organization, posting a .792 OPS to go with his 26 percent K-rate.

Davidson is carrying a .200/.294/.383 slash line through his first 16 games (60 at-bats) at Triple-A Charlotte.
EDGE Analysis
Davidson nearly made the team's 25-man roster after a hot spring. The White Sox credited his success (OBP on the right side of 1.000, four home runs) to some simplifications to his swing. However, it looks like those changes failed to translate to the regular season (or did not influence his spring much in the first place). Avisail Garcia is struggling in the White Sox's DH slot, but Davidson does not appear to be a candidate to replace him.

General manager Rick Hahn credited Davidson's stats this spring to a simplification of his swing, and he was in contention for one of the team's final roster spots, the Daily Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davidson had one of the best spring lines of any of the White Sox batters -- .381/.409/.714 with four home runs in 44 plate appearances. Still, there was no place for him to get everyday at-bats at the major league level. Additionally, he will need to prove he can put up similar numbers consistently at Triple-A Charlotte, where he has led the International League in strikeouts the past two years. Still, his name should come up if there is an in-season injury to a corner infielder.

Davidson was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Davidson hit 23 homers last season with the Triple-A squad, but hit for just a measly .203 average that, combined with the offseason acquisition of fellow third baseman Todd Frazier, limited his chance of cracking the Opening Day roster. He'll continue to serve as organizational infield depth and could eventually see some time in the big leagues.

Davidson played first base against the Padres on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Davidson's hot spring has revived his prospect star within the organization, but Todd Frazier's offseason arrival clogged the third base slot. The White Sox are now in need of a DH/backup first base type in the wake of Adam LaRoche's retirement, and Davidson could conceivably fill that role at some point in 2016. He has not played first base regularly since 2011, so he may need some reps in the minors before he is able to handle the position at the major league level.
