Matt Cain was touched for seven runs over six innings in a no-decision against the Rockies on Wednesday.
Cain had been really good in his previous two starts, but he didn't have much working on Wednesday. The right-hander allowed 10 hits, including two home runs, and walked three on the day. He's not the first pitcher and he won't be the last to struggle in Coors Field. He should be better in his next start Monday against the Padres.

Matt Cain was a hard-luck loser after limiting the Padres to an unearned run over seven innings on Friday.
The lone run came on the first on what was originally ruled a wild pitch, but was later changed to a passed ball. Cain struck out eight for the second start in a row. He's now 0-3 despite a 2.88 ERA. The Giants are scoring runs, just not for him.

Matt Cain allowed just one earned run over seven innings but the Giants lost to the Rockies on Saturday.
It was a positive showing for the Giants' right-hander, who struggled in his first two outings of the season. He struck out eight Colorado batters and surrendered just four hits, but the San Francisco offense gave him no support and he fell to 0-2 on the year. Cain will hope for better luck next time out in San Diego.

Matt Cain served up three homers, including a pair to Matt Kemp, as the Giants fell to the Dodgers on Sunday night.
Cain finished the night allowing five runs on six hits in his six innings of work, striking out three. Matt Kemp got him for a solo shot in the second inning to get the Dodgers on the board, then Hanley Ramirez and Kemp each knocked one over the wall in the fourth inning. Cain now sports a 5.73 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 5/2 K/BB ratio through 11 innings this season. He'll look to turn things around and get in the win column when he takes on the Rockies at home on Saturday.

Matt Cain surrendered three runs -- two earned -- on seven hits and two walks over five innings in a no-decision 5-4 loss to Arizona on Tuesday.
The right-hander whiffed two. Coming off a rough spring (7.47 ERA), Cain at the very least succeeded in keeping the ball in the yard tonight, no small feat considering the competition, ballpark, and his 2013 struggles in that department. His next start comes on Sunday Night Baseball against Zack Greinke and the Dodgers.

He'll try to put this one behind him and get back on track next time out.

Matt Cain has been shut down for the remainder of the 2013 season.
Guillermo Moscoso will get the ball in Sunday's season finale against the Padres in his place. Giants skipper Bruce Bochy was quick to add that there was nothing wrong with Cain, he simply wanted to give him a break after his enormous workload the past eight seasons. He finishes his 2013 campaign a highly disappointing 8-10 with a 4.00 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 158/55 K/BB ratio over 184 1/3 innings of work.
