Andriese allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out four batters over five innings during Sunday's loss to Houston. He did not factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The long ball did Andriese in Sunday, as the two home runs he surrendered accounted for all three runs he allowed. It's been an ongoing problem this year, too, as Andriese has been taken deep in each start and five times total through just 19 innings. With a 5.26 FIP and mediocre 7.88 K/9, it's probably best to view the 27-year-old righty as a matchup-based option. A date with the Blue Jays lines up next for Andriese, and considering Toronto's offensive struggles, he could be a potential low-priced flier in daily contests and streaming option in seasonal settings.

Andriese (1-0) held the Tigers to a single run on four hits and a walk over six innings Tuesday, striking out five en route to a 5-1 win.
EDGE Analysis
After a season-opening dud against the Blue Jays, he's turned in consecutive six-inning, one-run games; however, he's also given up a homer in each start, which is rather out of character for Andriese. This was a good outing, but don't overreact to his 3.38 ERA; Andriese hasn't proven to be anything more than an approximately league-average starter on the whole.

Andriese (0-0) allowed just a single run on five hits and three walks through six innings during Thursday's loss to the Yankees. He struck out five batters.
EDGE Analysis
The Blue Jays beat around Andriese to the tune of five runs -- four earned -- over just four innings during his season debut, so this was a nice bounce-back outing. Still, Andriese boasts an underwhelming 4.49 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 7.3 K/9 through 29 career starts, so he's off the fantasy radar in the majority of settings.

Andriese didn't factor into the decision Friday versus the Blue Jays, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and one walk over four innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese worked up to a robust 85 pitches and only got 54 of them into the strike zone. While he did notch nine swinging strikes, he fell behind against eight of the 21 hitters he faced and was victimized by Troy Tulowitzki, who tagged him for a two-run double in the first and solo home run in the fourth. Andriese will look to bounce back when he takes on the Yankees in a road start next Thursday.

Andriese (0-1) gave up six earned runs on seven hits and four walks over 4.1 innings in Sunday's 7-4 Grapefruit League loss to the Yankees. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese threw a whopping 86 pitches over his time on the mound, with only 51 finding the strike zone. He's now allowed eight earned runs on 17 hits and six walks over 10.2 innings across four spring appearances (three starts), leading to a 6.75 ERA and 2.16 WHIP. The numbers are far from an encouraging for the Rays' expected No. 5 starter, although the control issues are particularly out of the norm for Andriese, whose WHIP topped out at a decent 1.32 back in his rookie 2015 season.

Andriese struck out six but allowed three earned runs on seven hits over 4.2 innings Wednesday against Triple-A Rochester, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Rays' projected No. 5 starter wasn't exactly at his most impressive considering the lower level of competition but did get his work in. Andriese threw 86 pitches overall, keeping him on schedule with his throwing program. He's been a mixed bag this spring, with his solid 2.84 ERA offset by a .345 BAA and 1.89 WHIP.

Andriese gave up an earned run on five hits over 3.1 innings in Wednesday's 3-3 Grapefruit League tie with the Red Sox. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese one run came on an Andrew Benintendi sacrifice fly in the third, as he'd thrown two scoreless innings to open the game. The outing was a significant improvement over last Friday's appearance against the Pirates, when the Rays' projected No. 5 starter threw 44 pitches. "Felt much better," Andriese said. "A lot more comfortable getting through the innings and getting up four times is really good. ... Just command and fastball better and trying to get sharp with all my other pitches, too. It was just good to get out there and get three-plus innings after only going one-plus in my last two times out."

Andriese gave up one earned run on two hits and two walks over 1.2 innings in Friday's 4-1 Grapefruit League loss to the Pirates. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Andriese missed some bats but also struggled with command, making life a bit harder on himself during his brief stint on the mound. The right-hander fired 44 pitches and faced just nine batters, giving up a run-scoring single in the first to David Freese for his one run. Slated for the fifth starter role, Andriese blamed the lack of control on rustiness, considering he hadn't seen live game action in 10 days. He'll look to bounce back in his next start against the Red Sox on Wednesday, which will be his regular turn in the rotation.

Andriese (8-8) allowed three runs on seven hits, struck out six and walked one over 5.1 innings in a loss to the Rangers on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander fell victim to the long ball again, giving up two long ones, including the go-ahead bomb in the sixth that was the difference. Andriese allowed nine homers in six August starts, but had yielded just two through four September outings before Friday. He finishes the season with a 4.37 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 109 strikeouts in 127.2 innings.

Andriese didn't factor into the decision Saturday versus the Red Sox, giving up two earned runs on four hits and a walk over six innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old righty actually pitched better than he had in notching victories in his two most recent starts, completing six full innings for the first time since Aug. 24. After a two-start stretch where he gave up a whopping 14 earned runs over nine innings, Andriese has bounced back to allow just five earned runs over the 16.1 innings covering his last three trips to the mound. He'll try to end the season on a winning note when he takes on the White Sox next Thursday.
