Byrd is not in the lineup Friday, the C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
After Thursday's extended game where Byrd saw seven at-bats the Reds opted to give him some rest Friday. He has two home runs in his last six games and remains a source of cheap power. Chris Dominguez will get the start in left Friday.

Byrd went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's win over Pittsburgh.
Byrd hit a two run home run off of Pirates ace Gerrit Cole in the first inning on Wednesday to extend the Reds lead to 4-0. It was Byrd's 12th home run of the season to go along with 29 RBI. The .223 average is certainly disappointing so far this season, but Byrd is worth keeping an eye on. If he starts to get it going in the second half of the season, he could provide solid power production playing in a hitter-friendly park.

Byrd was 1-for-4 with a solo home run in his return to the Reds' lineup Friday night as Cincinnati defeated the Marlins 5-0.
It has to be somewhat surprising that he could return from a fractured wrist so soon (he was injured on June 2nd), but it also has to be encouraging that he could homer - his 11th of the season - in his first game back. Fantasy owners looking for power help will want to get him back in their lineups.

Byrd (wrist) is in the lineup, batting fifth and playing left field, for Friday's game against the Marlins, MLB.com's Jamie Ramsey reports.
Byrd will return from the disabled list when first eligible, after Thursday's game against the Tigers was postponed. He went 2-for-7 with a home run in his two-game rehab stint with Double-A Pensacola.

Byrd could be back with the Reds sometime this weekend, the Cincinnati Enquirer's C. Trent Rosecrans reports.
He is slated to play two games with Double-A Pensacola starting Wednesday, so he could theoretically join the Reds on Friday for the start of a home series against the Marlins. For at least the next two games Skip Schumaker and Ivan De Jesus will share duties in left field for the Reds.

Byrd (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Pensacola on Wednesday, John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
This is surprising, as a lengthy absence was expected after Byrd was diagnosed with a fractured right wrist early this month. However, it seems the Reds are convinced the 37-year-old has healed sufficiently, though it's not entirely clear when he may return to the major league club. When he does, Byrd should immediately take back over as the everyday option in left field after hitting .212 with 10 homers and 25 RBI in his first 47 games of the season.

Byrd (wrist) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.
Byrd's broken wrist would inevitably lead to a stint on the disabled list, and now the move has become official. The Reds recalled Ivan De Jesus Jr. to take his spot on the 25-man roster, and released Donald Lutz in corresponding moves. While he may return at some point later in the season, the injury will likely cost him his $8 million vesting option for reaching 550 plate appearances.

Byrd suffered a fractured right wrist Tuesday, MLB.com's Mark Sheldon reports.
He was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning and exited the game and X-rays revealed a broken wrist. After a slow start, Byrd hit eight home runs in May, reestablishing himself as a solid source of power in deeper formats. Even if Byrd is able to return in a couple months, a wrist injury could sap his power, which is the main reason to roster him in the first place. Skip Schumaker and Brennan Boesch represent the replacement options currently on the roster. The injury will also end up costing Byrd a $8 million option that would have vested if he reached 550 plate appearances this year, which essentially guarantees that he will be a free agent after the season.

Byrd is not in the lineup Sunday against the Nationals.
With the Nationals sending right-hander Tanner Roark to the mound, manager Bryan Price will start Skip Schumaker in left field while giving Byrd a regular day off. The veteran outfielder had made five straight starts, but is batting just .205 on the year.

Byrd went 2-for-4 with a home run in Monday's loss to Colorado
Byrd hit home run number 10 on the year in Monday's loss to the Rockies. He's on pace for over 30 home runs this year but the .211 average is definitely a concern for fantasy owners. He's still available in some mixed leagues, and he can provide power production for owners who may need it.
