Byrd is out of the lineup Saturday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Rajai Davis will shift over to right field Saturday while Jose Ramirez takes Byrd's spot in the order when the Indians take on Matt Harvey and the Mets for Game 2 of their series. Ramirez, a switch hitter, will add another left-handed bat to the order against Matt Harvey, who held right-handers such as Byrd to a .218 batting average against last season. That said, Byrd is batting a respectable .278 this season and figures to draw back into the order Sunday.

Byrd is out of Saturday's lineup against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
He has two hits through three games, and also has struck out in half of his at-bats, so it's easy to see why the Indians are opting to sit him against Chris Sale. Collin Cowgill will get the start in right field and hit ninth.

Byrd was informed Monday that he will break camp with the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
Byrd did not join the Indians until mid-March, but he made a quick impression by going 7-for-15 in five games, and will head into the regular season with a spot on the big league roster. Byrd's role is not clearly defined, but he at least figures to start against left-handers, and could see extra at-bats early on with Michael Brantley (shoulder) and Lonnie Chisenhall (forearm) banged up.

Byrd doubled twice Saturday and has seven hits in 15 at-bars since signing with the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
Byrd's still fighting for a spot on the Opening Day roster but has at least hit the ground running after joining the Indians late in spring training.

Byrd signed a minor league deal with the Indians, Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 38-year-old Byrd hit 23 home runs in 135 games last season, but he's a liability in the outfield and doesn't offer much besides power at the plate. That being said, he did post an .817 OPS against southpaws in 2015, potentially putting him in the mix for a platoon role with the Indians.

Byrd's $8 million option for the 2016 season wasn't picked up by the Giants on Wednesday, Andrew Baggarly of the Mercury News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Byrd is now free to catch on with any other team heading into the offseason. He didn't play all that poorly during the 2015 season, putting up 23 home runs, 73 runs batted in, and 58 runs scored while batting .247 at the plate, but $8 million proved to be far too high of a price tag for average production out of a 38-year-old who's nearing the end of his career.

Byrd will likely not have his $8 million option exercised by the Giants, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
This doesn't come as much of a surprise considering Byrd was benched towards the end of the year and the Giants already have a plethora of outfield options available on their roster. Byrd did smack 23 home runs in 2015 (four with the Giants) so he will likely command some interest on the open market, but it remains to be seen who might be interested in the 38-year-old.

Byrd is out of the lineup Sunday against the Rockies, Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giants manager Bruce Bochy will give the 38-year-old Byrd a day off for the season finale. Unless he receives a pinch-hitting appearance later in the contest, Byrd will finish 2015 with 23 homers, 73 RBI, and a .246 average across 505 at-bats.

Byrd is in the starting lineup Thursday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
With 15 plate appearances remaining before an $8 million option is vested, Byrd is not expected to see much more run after Thursday. Look for him to be rested for much of the upcoming weekend's contests.

Byrd is unlikely to see a high volume of reps during the final week of the season, Andrew Baggarly of CSN Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Byrd needs just 15 more plate appearances to vest an $8 million dollar option, so the financially-conscious Giants will likely be resting the outfielder often. In his stead, look for Jarrett Parker and Mac Williamson to see extra reps in an outfield that has been ravaged by injuries in 2015.
