Byrd is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Braves, Ryan Lawrence of the Philadelphia Daily News reports. With Byrd enduring something of a minor rough spell over his last three games (0-for-10, five strikeouts), he'll take a seat for Wednesday's afternoon affair. Grady Sizemore enters the lineup in right field, but Byrd can still safely be considered the team's everyday option at the position.

Byrd is not in Sunday's starting lineup versus the Mets. Byrd appears to be getting a routine day off, as Grady Sizemore and Dominic Brown will man the corner outfield positions in Sunday's series finale against the Mets. The veteran outfielder has been swinging the bat very well in recent days, going 5-for-12 with a couple of homers over his last three games. Byrd should be back in the lineup for Monday afternoon's bout with the Braves.

Byrd is out of the lineup Sunday against the Cardinals, Stephen Gross of The Morning Call reports. Byrd will take a seat Sunday following a good night at the plate Saturday, including two hits, two RBI and a run scored. He will yield the start Grady Sizemore in right field, who will bat fifth for the Phillies.

Byrd is out of the lineup Sunday against the Mets, Stephen Gross of the Morning Call reports. Byrd will get what looks like a routine day off after 10 straight starts, with Grady Sizemore filling in at right. An unidentified team claimed Byrd off revocable waivers earlier in the week, but the 48-hour window for the Phillies to trade him has since passed. The 36-year-old is 8-for-30 (.267 average) with two homers so far in August.

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports is hearing the Yankees have talked to the Phillies about Marlon Byrd, but nothing is close at present. Byrd has been a popular name as the trade deadline approaches, and the Yankees are among the teams that have been linked to the 36-year-old in recent days. Heyman hears the club isn't wild about Byrd's $8 million contract in 2015, though, a possible sticking point for a deal. Byrd is hitting .270/.318/.477 with 20 home runs this season and would no doubt provide a boost to the Bronx Bombers' offense.

ESPN's Jayson Stark reports that the Mariners are "out" on Marlon Byrd. Stark says there are "still some legs to rumblings" that the Yankees could go after Byrd, but they're wary of the outfielder's 2016 vesting option. The Royals had also previously been reported as a possible landing spot but no longer appear in the running. The market for the veteran outfield looks to be drying up.

Marlon Byrd is getting a scheduled day off Tuesday. With the trade deadline looming, it was a bit curious to see Byrd out of the lineup Tuesday, but there's nothing doing yet. Still, there's a decent chance he'll be moved by Thursday.

Marlon Byrd is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Mets. No word on the reason for his absence, but it's noteworthy with Thursday's trade deadline fast approaching. Grady Sizemore will make the start in right field Tuesday.
