Giolito allowed four runs on seven hits, two walks and a hit batsman while striking out three over four innings in Tuesday's 10-6 loss to the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito's mates staked him to a 4-0 lead after one inning, but he gave it all back in the second. It could have been worse, but the Pirates ran into the final out of a four-run second inning. Giolito eventually departed with a lead after needing 98 pitches to record his 12 outs. The word "erratic" comes to mind when looking at his game log, which is dotted with a four quality and near-quality starts among his seven outings, but the young right-hander left Tuesday's game with a 7.25 ERA in his pocket. He leads the AL with 25 walks and six hit batsmen. Giolito next takes the ball Sunday on the road against the Cubs.

Giolito (1-4) took the loss Wednesday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out seven over 6.1 innings against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't a bad outing for Giolito -- who induced 15 swings and misses -- but he was ultimately done in by the long ball. All three runs came via a home run, including a solo shot by opposing pitcher Carlos Martinez. Despite some very unsightly numbers -- including a 7.03 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 18:23 K:BB -- the 23-year-old has strung together back-to-back solid starts. He'll look to keep moving in the right direction Tuesday against the Pirates.

Giolito (0-3) allowed nine runs on five hits and seven walks while striking out one over two-plus innings in Saturday's 10-1 loss to the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
This was the fourth straight game the White Sox have given up at least 10 runs, as the team's starters have a league worst 6.80 ERA. Giolito, whose ERA rose to 9.00 after Saturday's outing, is a significant contributor to that mark. He had a nice spring, which had us thinking he, and not James Shields, was the real staff ace, but all that's blown up after just four starts. He struggled to find the strike zone Saturday, with just 31 strikes out of 72 pitches, and has now walked 19 batters over 20 innings. He'll get a bit of a break the next time out when he's scheduled to throw Thursday against the Royals, who are tied for last in MLB in runs scored.

Manager Rick Renteria said that Giolito will make his next start Saturday against the Astros, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito was originally lined up to take on the Athletics on Tuesday, but the entire pitching schedule got shifted as a result of the weekend series with the Twins getting rained out. As a result, the young righty now lines up to face Dallas Keuchel in the second game of the series with Houston.

Giolito (0-2) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits and five walks over 6.1 innings in Thursday's 4-0 loss to the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
It's hard for Giolito to win games when his mates muster three singles in support, but the right-hander once again failed to command consistently and often pitched with men on base. Manager Rick Renteria talked to Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune about the cool April weather messing with Giolito's grip, which may have a role in his 12 walks over 18 innings. Giolito will look for better feel, and hopefully weather, in his next start Tuesday in Oakland.

Giolito (0-1) allowed five runs on four hits, three walks and three hit batsmen over 5.2 innings in Saturday's 6-1 loss to the Tigers. He struck out four, threw first-pitch strikes to 11 of 27 batters and strikes on 49 of 94 pitches.
EDGE Analysis
It was a 32-degree day in Chicago, which presented a challenge to both starters' command. Detroit's Michael Fulmer fared better than Giolito. Of the six men who got on base via a free pass against Giolito, four scored. He hasn't handled the early-season weather well, having walked seven and hit four batters over his two starts (11.2 IP). On the plus side, he hasn't allowed a home run, which has been a trademark of his early career in the majors (15 HR, 66.2 IP prior to 2018). The right-hander pitched well during spring training, signaling a potential breakthrough this season, so fantasy owners need to patient. Those in daily leagues or DFS may want to wait for the warmer weather, which may not be possible for his next start, Thursday, at Minnesota's Target Field.

Giolito gave up three runs on four hits and four walks over six innings Saturday but didn't factor into the decision during the White Sox's 4-3 win over the Royals. He struck out one batter.
EDGE Analysis
The White Sox rallied with three runs in the eighth to propel themselves to a win after Giolito was removed. The right-hander's punchout total didn't wow his fantasy owners, but he showed flashes of promise despite logging just 49 strikes in 89 pitches. He'll look to put up better numbers in his next scheduled turn Thursday against the Tigers, who present another friendly matchup.

Giolito finished the Cactus League with a 2.04 ERA, walked four and struck out 17 over 17 spring innings.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito was the best starter on the staff during spring training. He picked up some velocity on his fastball while commanding his entire repertoire, which includes a curveball, slider and changeup. He's in line to follow Opening Day starter James Shields and will pitch Saturday, March 31, against the Royals in Kansas City.

Giolito allowed two hits and struck out four over 6.1 scoreless innings Tuesday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
This was the best of Giolito's four Cactus League starts and lowered his spring ERA to 2.04. The 23-year-old right-hander has allowed fewer than one baserunner per inning and is pegged to be the second starter, but could become the staff leader if (when) the White Sox trade James Shields. Even with Shields still on the roster, it would not be surprising to see Giolito emerge as the staff ace.

Giolito allowed two runs on five hits and struck out four over 5.1 innings Thursday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito, who became the first White Sox starter to get into the sixth inning, got off to a slow start, when he allowed a triple and a home run in the first inning. He then proceeded to shut down the Angels. "Came out in the first inning [and] I did not have the -- I guess you'd say -- intensity that I should have had from the get-go," Giolito told Richard Justice of MLB.com. "For me, it's important to come out of the gate firing, and I came out in the first inning kind of like just feeling stuff out. You're not really going to have success like that. Unfortunately, it took a triple and a home run to really start to get going." Manager Rick Renteria may have James Shields start Opening Day, but Giolito looks like the ace of the staff leading up to the regular season. The right-hander has allowed four earned runs and struck out 13 over 11.1 innings.
