Giolito (2-2) allowed five runs (three earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings in Firday's 9-2 loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito became the second young White Sox hurler victimized by the defense behind him as Chicago booted three balls, including two by second baseman Yoan Moncada. Earlier in the week, Reynaldo Lopez's quality start was impacted by shoddy fielding. Giolito, who had come off two impressive starts, wasn't as good Friday but also felt he was getting squeezed and was ejected by home-plate umpire Gabe Morales for arguing balls and strikes as he was pulled from the game in the sixth inning, according to Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune. The right-hander next take the bump Wednesday on the road against Kansas City.

Giolito (2-1) allowed a single run on three hits and a walk while striking out 10 batters through seven innings during Sunday's win over Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
The young lefty was spot on Sunday and pitched a gem. It was a glimpse at his immense upside, and Giolito has now allowed just a single run through 14 innings over his past two starts. He's unlikely to flawless cruise through his remaining starts, but a strong finish to the season appears to already be underway. Giolito should be owned and started in the majority of settings entering his upcoming start against the Giants.

Giolito (1-1) tossed seven scoreless innings in Sunday's win over the Tigers, allowing three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito was oustanding in this one, throwing 69 percent of his pitches for strikes and allowing just three men past first base. He loaded the bases in the seventh inning but was able to battle through the jam to cap off a successful day. Giolito struggled with the long ball in his season debut Tuesday, but he was much more effective this time out as he delivered a quality start. He will look to build off of this excellent outing Saturday against the Rays.

Giolito (0-1) dropped the decision in his 2017 debut, allowing four runs on six hits -- including three home runs -- over six innings while striking out four in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
He threw 64 of 99 pitches for strikes and was scraping 96 mph with his fastball in the first inning, but by the end of his night Giolito's fastball could barely break 93 mph and his lack of confidence in his off-speed pitches was exposed. The right-hander's upside is still sky high, but don't expect him to be an immediate success. He'll next take the mound Sunday at home against the Tigers.

The White Sox recalled Giolito from Triple-A Charlotte ahead of his scheduled start Tuesday against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Widely viewed as the top pitching prospect entering the 2016 campaign when he was member of the Nationals, Giolito has lost a bit of luster in the last two seasons, but still ranks as one of the better young arms in the White Sox system. The right-hander turned in a middling 4.48 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 128.2 innings with Charlotte, but showed much improvement in his final eight outings with the Triple-A club, submitting a 2.86 ERA and 9.6 K/9 rate over that stretch. He'll now get his first chance to settle into a rotation spot with the White Sox, replacing Reynaldo Lopez (back), who was moved to the 10-day disabled list last week. Giolito could be a fixture in the rotation for the rest of the season for the rebuilding White Sox in what amounts to an audition for a full-time role in the big leagues in 2018.

Giolito's 2017 debut has been pushed back to Tuesday, Colleen Kane of The Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
The White Sox shuffled their rotation for their upcoming doubleheader Monday and will use Carlos Rodon and Carson Fulmer for the twin bill. As such, Giolito will have to wait one extra day to make his first big league appearance of 2017. Giolito's shine as a top-tier prospect was worn off somewhat since 2016, but the 23-year-old will have a chance to finish the season strong once he joins the White Sox rotation Tuesday. He is coming off his best stretch of the season at Triple-A Charlotte, firing a 1.74 ERA with a 1.16 WHIP over his last five starts (31.0 IP).

Giolito will be recalled from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday to start one game of the doubleheader against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
With the minor-league season winding down, it seemed inevitable that we would see Giolito join the big-league rotation at some point in either late August or early September. He has not necessarily earned the promotion, but he is on the 40-man roster and has 166 career innings at Triple-A, so it is reasonable for Chicago to turn to him for this start. Giolito posted a 4.48 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 24.3 percent strikeout rate with Charlotte, so while he is a big ERA/WHIP risk, there is some strikeout upside. We know the date Giolito will make his debut, but it remains to be seen whether he will start the day game or the night game. The White Sox needed to call upon a sixth starter due to the doubleheader, so it is possible that Giolito will be sent back to Charlotte after Monday's start before rejoining the White Sox when rosters expand in September, or he could remain up for good, with his performance possibly dictating which course the White Sox take.

Giolito allowed seven hits and one walk while striking out seven over six scoreless innings for Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
It's taken a while, but Giolito has found himself over the last five starts, posting a 1.74 ERA with 28 strikeouts and 11 walks over 31 innings. He told Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago that his season turned around when he started throwing his curveball for strikes. That improved his efficiency, allowing him to get deeper into games. The young right-hander appears headed for a September callup.

Giolito spun a seven-inning shutout in his start Tuesday with Triple-A Charlotte, surrendering four hits and three walks while striking out six batters.
EDGE Analysis
It's the second seven-inning shutout in four starts for Giolito, but the right-hander is still searching for consistency, as he sandwiched the two quality starts around a pair of dud outings in which he gave up a combined eight runs over six innings. According to Michael Leboff of MiLB.com, Giolito indicated that he's been able to spot his off-speed pitches effectively, but is still having difficulty commanding his fastball. If he can improve in the latter area over his subsequent outings, Giolito could receive a promotion to the big leagues in September as the rebuilding White Sox look to assess their younger rotation options.

Giolito said James Shields has helped teach him how to utilize his legs more in his delivery, Kelsie Heneghan of MiLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran also showed Giolito how to work on his legs differently in the gym, which could "really help to increase consistency, maybe extension, maybe velocity," according to the prospect. Giolito stumbled a bit Saturday but has been rolling since his seven-inning no-hitter May 25. He struck out 11 on June 5, as well. The right-hander is gaining more momentum for a call-up to the White Sox, who probably want to give him an extended trial in a rebuilding year. Fantasy owners in deeper mixed leagues with a bench spot to spare could stash him.
