Giolito allowed a run on two hits and two walks while striking out eight over four-plus innings in Saturday's start against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito mixed in all of his pitches and fanned the first four batters he faced, running his pitch count to 70 before departing. He's allowed just two runs over nine spring innings. Giolito will be at the front end of the White Sox's rotation when the season kicks off later this month.

Giolito allowed two hits and one walk while striking out three over three scoreless innings in Monday's split-squad game against the Dodgers, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito was much sharper Monday than in his first spring start, which is the process for pitchers in spring training. The right-hander will be part of the White Sox's rotation in 2018 and be given a long leash. There will be some growing pains for Giolito, whose shown a proclivity to give up home runs during his brief exposure to the major-league hitters. He's allowed 15 long balls over 66.2 career innings.

Giolito allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks while striking out one over two innings Wednesday against Texas.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito took his first spring outing in stride, understanding it's a process, so allowing two first-inning runs didn't phase him. He told Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune his curveball worked well but he was rushing a bit, particularly from the stretch. The 23-year-old right-hander had a nice seven-start run with the White Sox last season, but had a penchant for giving up long balls (eight HR in 45.1 IP).

Giolito acknowledged finding a comfortable mental focus while at Triple-A Charlotte last season, and then carried that change to the majors, Scott Merkin of the White Sox's official site reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito posted a 2.38 ERA over seven starts with the White Sox, however, he permitted eight home runs in just 45.1 innings. The long balls were the fuel for his 4.99 FIP -- we don't often see that wide a variance between ERA and FIP. Nevertheless, the 23-year-old right-hander is expected to take up residency in Chicago's rotation to start the 2018 season, and he will be given room to develop.

Manager Rick Renteria said Giolito will not make another start this season, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito racked up a combined 174 innings this season -- up from his 136 innings in 2016 -- prompting the White Sox to cut his season short in an effort to preserve his arm. The 23-year-old bounced back after struggling to a 6.75 ERA in his first taste of the majors last season, compiling an impressive 2.38 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 45.1 innings for the White Sox this year. After displaying flashes of why he was once a top pitching prospect, Giolito could be poised for a breakout campaign in 2018. He should be on track to toss around 200 innings next season.

Giolito (3-3) allowed just one run on five hits while striking out five without a walk over seven strong innings to pick up the win over Kansas City on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito's only blemish was a third-inning solo homer by Lorenzo Cain, as the 23-year-old righty cruised to an 8-1 win while staying under the 100-pitch mark at 98. Despite decreased fastball velocity due to fatigue, Giolito has confounded opposing offenses since being called up to Chicago with quality starts in five of seven outings. He's scheduled to take the mound for the final time this season Friday in Cleveland.

Giolito was able to overcome lower-than normal fastball velocity with a stellar changeup in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Astros, Dan Hayes of CSN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito has thrown a season-high 167 innings this season, so reduced fastball velocity is to be expected. He overcame that with a changeup he threw 18 times with 11 going for strikes. "The changeup was a good pitch for me aside from a few I left up in the zone," Giolito said. "I had a lot of confidence in it and that was probably the offspeed pitch I was most comfortable going to in situations." This was another test for the young pitcher, being able to squelch a dangerous lineup without his best stuff. He's thrown four quality starts in six outings since his callup to Chicago and has been a much better this season than during his introduction to MLB in 2016 while with the Nationals.

Giolito (2-3) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk over 6.2 innings Tuesday against the Astros. He struck out three and was saddled with the loss.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito pitched well Tuesday but was stuck with the loss after the White Sox's offense was only able to muster up one run on the night. After appearing overmatched at the big-league level with the Nationals last season (6.75 ERA over 21.1 IP), the young righty has looked much more composed with his new organization in 2017, as he now holds a 2.58 ERA in his six starts since being recalled on Aug. 22. He lines up for a start against the Royals on Sunday.

Giolito was pleased to be able to grind out a quality start Wednesday while not being at his best, the Chicago Tribune reports. "To come out and pitch on the road and not have your best stuff working from the get-go and then just keep grinding through to try and get ahead of batters to the best of my ability (was good)," Giolito said.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito, who had only 11 first-pitch strikes over 27 batters faced, didn't author a clean inning until the fifth. This was more than just a quality start but part of his on-the-job learning process as a pitcher in the majors. The young right-hander acknowledged he still has some work to do, particularly in the area of throwing strike one, but emerged from the start with more confidence. Through five MLB starts, Giolito is 2-2 with a 2.56 ERA.

Giolito allowed one run on four hits and three walks in 6.1 innings but didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Royals. He struck out three batters.
EDGE Analysis
It was a nice bounce back start for Giolito, who lasted just 5.1 innings and allowed five runs (three earned) in his previous outing. The young right-hander now boasts an impressive 2.56 ERA and 0.95 WHIP through his first five starts with the White Sox, a stretch over which he's also collected three quality starts and a pair of wins. While he hasn't faced the league's most impressive offenses, the 23-year-old has shown flashes of why he was viewed as one of the top pitching prospects before struggling last season. He'll face his toughest test yet in his next start, which is scheduled for Tuesday against the Astros.
