Giolito (2-1) allowed six runs (four earned) on six hits while striking out six and walking four across five-plus innings in a victory against the Yankees on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The 24-year-old allowed five runs and trailed through five innings, but the White Sox offense hit a pair of two-run homers to give Giolito the lead in the sixth. Then after allowing the first two batters to reach in the bottom of the frame, he left, and one inherited runner scored. Giolito is 2-1 with 18 strikeouts in 16 innings, but he also owns a 6.19 ERA and 1.50 WHIP through three starts. His next outing is expected to be against the Royals.

Giolito (1-1) allowed five runs on six hits and four walks while striking out four in Saturday's 9-2 loss to the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Six days after taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning, Giolito reverted form to 2018 when he had an MLB-high 4.7 BB/9. Giolito's bugaboo is repeating his mechanics, and that can waver from start to start. He's next due to pitch Friday to kick off a road series against the Yankees.

Giolito (1-0) picked up his first win after allowing two runs on three hits and a walk while striking out eight over 6.2 innings Sunday against Kansas City.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito nearly made it through seven strong innings but was pulled just before his 100th pitch with two outs in the sixth. He fired 68 or 99 pitches for strikes and had a no-hitter going before surrendering two runs on three hits in the bottom of the seventh. This is a welcome sight for the White Sox, especially after Giolito struggled on the hill throughout spring training (8.84 ERA over 18.1 innings). His next outing is slated for Sunday against Seattle.

Giolito was named the third starter in the rotation to begin the 2019 season, Jack Magruder of The Sports Xchange reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito is in line to pitch the third game of the 2019 campaign against the Royals on Sunday. He struggled to an 8.84 ERA with 18 punchouts over 18.1 frames in spring training and posted a 6.13 ERA over 173.1 innings last season, but the White Sox have confidence that he's the man for the job.

Giolito threw four relief innings Wednesday, giving up seven runs on eight hits, including two home runs, and two walks over four innings against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito threw out of the bullpen as it was his day to throw, but the White Sox let Ervin Santana open the game. Giolito has been hit hard in all five of his Cactus League outings, posting an 8.84 ERA and 1.91 WHIP over 18.1 innings.

Giolito allowed four runs on six hits -- including two home runs -- and two walks while striking out seven over five innings against the Cubs on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito has a 6.91 ERA in the Cactus League, mirroring his body of work in 2018, but the right-hander accentuated the positive after another lackluster outing. He told Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune that he's happy with the state of his curveball. "The feel for my curve is 10 times better," Giolito said after an 82-pitch effort. "So I'm confident going into every game I'll be able throw that pitch for strikes and will be able to get on top of it and throw it in the dirt to get chases as well. Whereas last year I wouldn't really know going into games what my curve would be doing." Giolito feels his stuff is better, but the results have been the same: a lot of traffic on the basepaths leading to runs allowed.

Giolito allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three over 4.2 innings Sunday against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito was tested after giving up home runs in each of the first two innings, but he didn't unravel like he did last season. He got through the last 2.2 innings without incident. "I'm not stressing anymore with runners on base," Giolito told Madeline Kenney of the Chicago Sun-Times. "If I walk a guy - I walked three today - it's not eating at me like it would last year where I'm now thinking about something that happened in the past verses the next pitch. My focus is much more onto every single pitch, one at a time verses this inning is getting out of hand, things are getting out of hand." It's looking like Giolito will get plenty of opportunities to maintain his composure with runners on base. The right-hander's allowed 17 baserunners over 9.1 spring innings.

Giolito allowed three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out three over 2.2 innings Tuesday against San Diego.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito made his second spring start, running his pitch count up to 64. Only 36 of those pitches went for strikes, and he built up a number of 3-2 counts. After the game, Giolito talked about pulling too many pitches to his front side, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Coming off a season in which he walked 90 batters in 173.1 innings, the right-hander needs to command better in 2019.

Giolito allowed three runs (one earned) on three hits while striking out two over two innings in Thursday's game against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito, who debuted a shorter arm swing in his delivery, was victimized by a dropped fly ball that led to two second-inning runs. He was pleased with the new delivery, but noted he needs to work on pitching out of the stretch. "The windup felt good, like I was in control and relaxed the whole time,'' Giolito told Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times. "Out of the stretch I felt like I was leaking a little bit. Need to work on pitching out of the stretch."

Giolito has shortened his arm swing before delivering a pitch, Teddy Greenstein of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
When Giolito removes his right hand from the glove during his delivery, he does not extend his arm out wide; it stays closer to his ear. The right-hander described the change as cleaner and more efficient. "It's more direct to my good firing position," he said. "I feel more athletic. You can compare it to how an infielder throws a baseball. It just happened naturally over the offseason and it feels really good, so I'm going with it." Regardless of the arm swing, the key for the 6-foot-7 Giolito, who walked an AL-high 90 batters last year, is repeating his mechanics. We'll get to see the new motion on display Thursday, when he makes his first spring start against the Mariners.
