Giolito (5-8) allowed two earned runs on three hits and three walks while striking out three across 7.1 innings to take the loss Sunday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito bounced back from surrendering seven earned runs in his previous start, putting together what would likely be considered his best outing of the season. While he didn't produce much in terms of strikeouts, he generated a season-best 13 groundouts. On a more negative note, he did surrender a home run, marking the eighth time in his past nine times taking the hill that he has surrendered at least one longball. That's enough to make him an unreliable option to consider, though he has shown positive flashes throughout the season.

Giolito took a no-decision Thursday, yielding one run on four walks and four hits in a 2-1 loss to the Twins. He struck out three batters and allowed a home run.
EDGE Analysis
It wasn't the most impressive line, but it may have been Giolito's best start of the season. He held Minnesota off the scoreboard until Logan Morrison smacked a leadoff homer to start the seventh innings. After a 2.38 ERA in 45.1 innings last season, the former top prospect owns an atrocious 6.59 ERA with 51 strikeouts and 51 walks in 84.2 innings in 2018. Giolito will look to build on the solid outing next Tuesday in Cincinnati.

Giolito will start Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Giolito will get the ball for the second game of Friday's twin bill after Thursday's game was postponed due to inclement weather. The 23-year-old owns an unsightly 7.19 ERA and 40:45 K:BB across 14 starts (71.1 innings) this season. James Shields will start Game 1.

Giolito's start against Oakland on Thursday was postponed due to inclement weather.
EDGE Analysis
The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Friday, so expect Giolito to take the hill during one of those contests as the rest of the White Sox's rotation remains the same. Over 14 starts this year, he's posted a 7.19 ERA and 1.64 WHIP with a 40:45 K:BB across 71.1 innings.

Giolito (4-7) did not factor in the decision Saturday, allowing five runs on six hits over 5.1 innings during the loss to the Tigers. He walked two and struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito gave up a pair of home runs to Nick Castellos which accounted for all five runs allowed. The 23-year-old now has a 7.19 ERA and 1.64 WHIP with an abysmal 40:45 K:BB over 71.1 innings, and is next expected to start against Oakland on Thursday.

Giolito (3-6) earned the loss against the Indians on Tuesday, allowing five runs on nine hits with three strikeouts over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
The effort is a marked improvement over Giolito's previous 1.1 inning outing last week, but was another sub-par performance for the young right-hander. The 23-year-old did not walk a batter for the first time this season -- 30:37 K:BB over 55 innings -- but had trouble avoiding hard contact against Cleveland. Giolito may not start again until next Wednesday versus the Twins.

Giolito had a side session Saturday with pitching coach Don Cooper, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Cooper gave Giolito simple instructions: "Strikes,'' Cooper said. "Strikes." The right-hander has walked 37 batters over 49 innings and focused on getting over the ball and creating downward angle toward the zone. When Giolito finished off last season with a strong run and looked promising in spring training, Cooper said he was throwing quality strikes early in the count, but lamented they're not getting that now. Giolito, whose ERA spiked to 7.53 after his previous start, is scheduled to pitch Tuesday in Cleveland.

Manager Rick Renteria said he doesn't foresee Giolito being demoted to the minors following Thursday's outing in which the starter lasted just 1.1 innings, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito has struggled to throw strikes and locate pitches, much like fellow starter Carson Fulmer, who was demoted to Triple-A Charlotte a week ago. However, Renteria appears willing to let Giolito work through it in that majors. The 23-year-old right-hander has walked 37 over 49 innings (6.8 BB/9) and carries a 7.53 ERA into his next start Tuesday in Cleveland.

Giolito (3-5) allowed seven earned runs on six hits and three walks across 1.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Nothing went right for Giolito as he struggled to find the strike zone throughout his short start and was ultimately pulled after allowing back-to-back home runs to Adam Jones and Trey Mancini. Control has been a major issue for him all season, and after Thursday's start he is now allowing 6.8 BB/9. After a horrendous start to the season, Giolito had put together two decent starts prior to this disaster, so he'll look to get back on track in his next start, which is likely to come against the Indians on Tuesday.

Giolito gave up three runs on two hits and seven walks while striking out three in 5.2 innings Sunday against the Cubs, which was good enough for him to earn his second win of the season.
EDGE Analysis
To say Giolito didn't have his best control in this one would be an understatement, but he was somehow able to limit the damage. Shockingly this is already the second time Giolito has walked seven batters in a game this season, as he issued seven free passes to the Astros back on April 21, and they tagged him for nine runs in that contest, which is a more fair representation of what typically happens to big-league pitchers who are this wild. The performance dropped his ERA from 7.25 to 6.91, and his WHIP now sits at an unsightly 1.66 -- the second worst mark among qualified starters. His next start is scheduled for Friday against the Rangers.
