Juan Carlos Oviedo (elbow) is expected to return from the 15-day disabled list as soon as he's eligible.

Rays manager Joe Maddon penciled Juan Carlos Oviedo into Sunday's lineup card.
Maddon stated on Saturday that Tampa Bay might be inclined to only deploy Oviedo in minor league games so the Rays could backdate his disabled list stint. We'll find out his intentions by as soon as this afternoon, as it's also possible that Oviedo will take the mound against the Red Sox on Sunday to make his Grapefruit League debut. Oviedo is just 18 months removed from Tommy John surgery and was late to camp due to a visa issue. He'll begin the season on the disabled list.

Rays manager Joe Maddon said Thursday that Juan Carlos Oviedo is in "jeopardy" of missing the start of the season.

Rays manager Joe Maddon said he's not giving up hope of Juan Carlos Oviedo (visa problems) cracking Opening Day roster.
The right-hander is stuck in the Dominican Republic due to visa problems. Oviedo, formerly known as Leo Nunez, spent the 2013 season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery. He's been limited to just three rehab innings over the last two seasons. His odds of breaking camp with the big squad are growing bleaker by the day.
