Reddick is taking more soft toss on Wednesday and with no setbacks, will take batting practice on Thursday, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Reddick is still hoping to play in games by this weekend. If he is able to play this weekend, he still has a shot to be in the A's lineup on Opening day, but even if he is not quite ready, it looks like he will not miss any extended regular season time.

Reddick (oblique) progressed to hitting soft toss Tuesday and there is a chance he will be able to return to game action this weekend, the Bay Area News Group's John Hickey reports. This was his first time hitting soft toss since the injury, and manager Doug Melvin said that if Reddick continues to progress well, he could get into a game this weekend. His status for Opening Day is still unclear.

Reddick (oblique) did some outfield work and hit off a tee Monday, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports. The hope is that Reddick will be able to be playing in games by this weekend, which would mean he could have a shot at being ready for Opening Day. Either way, it will be a relatively close call, and Reddick still warrants ownership in deeper formats as he should be available for most of April.

Reddick (obligue) could be back playing games by Saturday, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. If Reddick is able to playing by the weekend, it would be a very quick recovery and also give him a shot to be ready by Opening Night. Reddick indicated that he would need about 15-20 spring at-bats to be ready for the start of the season. It might be tight for Reddick to be ready for the first game, but it sounds like if he is not ready for game one, it will be very soon after.

Reddick will get some dry swings in Wednesday for the first time since injuring his oblique early in spring training, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports. Reddick was initially believed to be disabled list-bound after the injury, but hope has emerged with his most recent progress. While he still remains a ways off from returning to the field, the dry swings represent another step in his recovery. The next step would likely include hitting off a tee followed by a batting cage session before rejoining the lineup. His status for Opening Day still remains up in the air, however.

Reddick (oblique) threw on Saturday and indicated that he felt no pain, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Reddick is expected to miss Opening Day, but this development could make playing then a possibility. He has not yet swung a bat and that next step will provide a better timeline for Reddick's return.

Reddick (oblique) will attempt to throw Saturday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Reddick also reported that he is feeling better after suffering an oblique strain in a spring training game last week, but he's still expected to miss the beginning of the season. He won't pick up a bat still, but it would still be an encouraging sign if he's able to throw without any pain .

Reddick (oblique) will likely open the season on the DL, the Bay Area News Group's John Hickey reports. Nothing has officially been announced, but it sounds like Reddick's owners should expect to be without him at the outset of the regular season due to the oblique strain he suffered last week. Ben Zobrist figures to be the Opening Day right fielder, with Eric Sogard getting starts at second base while Reddick is out. In addition to Zobrist, Mark Canha and Craig Gentry are also options to play right field if needed.

Reddick (oblique) will be shut down for two weeks, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports. Reddick tried to make one of his trademark leaping grabs at the wall during a recent defensive drill, but he felt a pop as he went up and will now be down for at least two weeks. It's still too early to tell whether he could miss Opening Day, but Reddick will have to ramp his activity after the shutdown period, likely progressing from dry swings to tee work to batting practice.

Reddick has been scratched from Friday's spring game with an oblique strain, the San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser reports. Oblique problems can be trouble for power hitters since it can rob them of the torque that powers their swing, and Reddick's .186 career ISO is what keeps him above average as a hitter. There's no indication this is a long term worry, but eyebrows should be raised if he misses another game.
