Giancarlo Stanton has been diagnosed with a left wrist contusion after leaving Sunday's game following a hit by pitch.
It's good news, though it wouldn't be the first time a team originally said a player has a contusion before a subsequent X-ray revealed a fracture. So, don't consider Stanton out of the woods just yet. The Marlins haven't said when he'll receive an X-ray, but we assume it will come at some point Sunday. Stay tuned.

Giancarlo Stanton left Sunday's game after being hit on the left hand/wrist by a pitch from the Mets' Chris Schwinden.
It's not clear at this point if it's anything to worry about, but there's always cause for concern when a player gets hit on the hand. Stanton will likely be taken immediately for X-rays, and we'll provide an update on his status as soon as more is known.

Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the Marlins have discussed the possibility of presenting Giancarlo Stanton with a "big, crooked" contract offer.
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reported last week that the Marlins have yet to discuss a long-term extension with Stanton, but they'd be crazy to not give it a shot real soon. The 22-year-old slugger could qualify as a Super Two player this winter and remains under team control through the 2016 season.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Marlins have yet to discuss a long-term deal with Giancarlo Stanton.
Heyman writes that Stanton isn't thinking about it yet, which makes sense as he won't be arbitration-eligible for the first time until after the 2013 season and remains under team control through 2016. The 22-year-old slugger has a .261/.344/.525 batting line, 56 home runs and an .869 OPS over his first 250 games in the majors.

Mike Stanton said Wednesday in Marlins' camp that he prefers to be called Giancarlo Stanton.
An awesome name for an awesome talent. Stanton's dad calls him Mike and many of his relatives call him "Mikey," but his real first name is actually Giancarlo. The Marlins have identified him as such above his locker for the first time, but they'd probably call him whatever he wants as long as he keeps hitting those mammoth home runs.

Mike Stanton (hamstring) will make his second straight start on Friday.
It appears Stanton has finally gotten over the hump with his hamstring issue. Even though he probably still isn't 100 percent, there's no reason he shouldn't be in your lineup unless you have exceptional depth in the outfield.

Mike Stanton (hamstring) is not in the Marlins' starting lineup for the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Phillies.
Stanton drove in the go-ahead run Monday in a pinch-hit appearance, but hasn't started since last Friday. Marlins manager Jack McKeon said Wednesday that the young slugger was "getting close," but it's not clear when he'll return to the starting lineup.

Mike Stanton said his hamstring is at "about 70 [percent]."
Marlins manager Jack McKeon said Stanton, who was able to pinch-hit Monday, will not return to the lineup until he's 100 percent, so it sounds like he's probably at least a few days away. "It all depends on progress," Stanton said. "If it hits a wall, [who knows?] But as of now, I feel like it's pretty close."
