Mike Stanton left Saturday's game against the Phillies with a right hamstring injury.
Stanton was replaced by Logan Morrison in the outfield in the top of the sixth inning after tumbling to the ground while running to first base. He blasted his 32nd home run of the season before exiting. Stanton is listed as day-to-day.

Mike Stanton hit his 30th home run of the season in Sunday's loss to the Padres.
It's a mini-milestone for the 21-year-old slugger. He's exceeded most expectations by hitting .261 and now has 52 homers in his first 220 major league games. The long-term upside here is tantalizing.

Mike Stanton homered for the fourth straight game in Florida's loss to the Rockies on Wednesday.
He took Aaron Cook deep for a two-run shot in the eighth. Stanton's 29 bombs are now just one behind Albert Pujols for the National League lead. He's sporting a .262/.349/.546 triple slash through his first 479 plate appearances this season.

Mike Stanton has already drawn 10 walks in August after drawing just 11 in 27 July games.
Those 11 walks were a career high for any month for Stanton, however. He is still striking out a ton in August (12 times in 31 at-bats), but there's no doubt he's been showing increased patience at the plate, reaching base at a clip of .398 in 26 games since the All-Star break. Just another reason why he is rapidly emerging as one of the game's best keeper options.

According to the Palm Beach Post, the Marlins have been having "preliminary internal talks" about signing Mike Stanton to a long-term contract.
Still just 21, Stanton won't be eligible for arbitration until after the 2013 season. Any potential deal would almost certainly buy out his arbitration years. If he keeps hitting at the rate he has been, locking up Stanton now would be a very wise move for the ever-thrifty Marlins.

Marlins manager Jack McKeon believes Mike Stanton can be a 30/30 player.
"I told him, 'You can be a 30/30 guy, easy,'" McKeon said. "I've just got to sell him on the idea that this is what you've got to do." Stanton, despite being 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, is athletic. But he's only 8-for-12 in stolen base opportunities over 189 games for the Marlins. He stole eight bases in 324 minor league games. "Once I learn how to steal bases, I think I can (steal more)," Stanton said. "I just need to learn." Certainly Stanton's fantasy value would increase if he stole more bases, but we're doubtful that he'll ever turn into much of a threat on the base paths.

Mike Stanton slugged a pair of homers in Saturday's blowout win over the Cubs.
Stanton finished the day 3-for-5 with four RBI. He hit a solo homer in the fourth and a three-run shot in the fifth. It was the third multi-homer game his career. He now has 20 home runs through 88 games this season after hitting 22 in 100 games in his rookie year. The 21-year-old outfielder is meeting some pretty lofty draft day expectations.
