Felix Doubront (shoulder) has been cleared to start next Monday after another successful simulated game Wednesday.
Doubront's early camp shoulder soreness appears to be behind him. "He was very good. Two sim innings and he's on tap for Monday," Red Sox manager John Farrell said. Doubront struck out over a batter per inning last season, though he also posted a 4.86 ERA.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe writes that Felix Doubront "showed up overweight but now appears a bit leaner."
Doubront has also dealt with some minor shoulder soreness in camp, but he will throw live batting practice Monday and Wednesday before starting a Grapefruit League game next Monday if all goes well. The lefty will be fine for Opening Day, batting a setback.

Felix Doubront (shoulder) threw his first bullpen session of spring training Wednesday without incident.
Doubront was dealing with shoulder discomfort early in camp, but didn't report any issues in his side session, and should be cleared to throw live batting practice by next week. The Red Sox will continue to move him along slowly, as the 25-year-old coming off a career-high 161 innings last season.

Felix Doubront (shoulder) is scheduled to throw side sessions on Wednesday and Friday.
Doubront is getting a late start this spring after experiencing some shoulder weakness upon arriving to camp. However, assuming all goes well with his side sessions this week, the plan calls for him to progress to throwing live batting practice next Monday. Still, he remains a risky proposition coming off a career-high 161 innings last year and should be monitored closely this spring.

Felix Doubront (shoulder) has been cleared to resume throwing bullpen sessions.
Doubront had been dealing with shoulder weakness, so the Red Sox gave him some time off as a precautionary measure. While it's good news that he feels healthy enough to return, Doubront reported to camp out of shape and is coming off a career-high 161 innings last season. He remains a red flag injury risk, and should continue to be monitored in spring training.

Felix Doubront spent the winter focusing on cardio work to increase his stamina and leg strength, and strives to pitch 200 innings during the 2013 season.
Doubront is coming off a career-high 161 innings from a season ago, and is already experiencing some weakness in his throwing shoulder early in spring camp. As long as he's healthy, Doubront possesses strong strikeout ability and could be a solid sleeper in the later rounds of fantasy drafts.

Felix Doubront (shoulder) will take seven days off from throwing bullpen sessions.
The Red Sox are giving Doubront a bit of a breather as he deals with some slight shoulder weakness. The 25-year-old southpaw said his forearm was a bit tight during the offseason, but that his shoulder wasn't an issue. The hope right now is that a little rest will do the trick, but coming off a career-high 161 innings last season, it's a situation that should be monitored.

Felix Doubront and Craig Breslow will be slightly behind the other Red Sox pitchers in spring training after they experienced some slight shoulder weakness while long-tossing.
Manager John Farrell stressed that holding the pitchers back a bit is only precautionary and they don't expect it to be a big deal. It's worth noting, though, particularly in Doubront's case, after he went from throwing 87 2/3 innings in 2011 to 161 this past season.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said he doesn't expect Felix Doubront to experience any residual effects from his increased workload in 2012.
"There shouldn't be anything that would indicate we've got to be conscious of one specific thing," said Farrell. "He'll be monitored like every other starting pitcher, but I don't think there's anything that says, just because of that increase in innings, you've got to be overly conscious of anything." After missing the majority of 2011 due to injury, Doubront pitched a career-high 161 innings last season and admitted to being overworked down the stretch. However, the 25-year-old didn't exhibit any physical problems other than routine fatigue. The Red Sox are not expected to put him on an innings-limit and are hoping he can build on his first full season by becoming a workhorse No. 4 starter.
