Felix Doubront allowed one run on six hits in 5 2/3 innings Thursday in a 5-3 win over the Rays. He struck out seven and threw 62 of his 97 pitches for strikes. Doubront is now 4-1 on the season and has a 4.30 ERA through his first eight starts. He'll look to carry over the momentum in his next scheduled start Tuesday against the Orioles.

Felix Doubront was hit in the right ear by a fly ball during workouts Tuesday at Fenway Park. Doubront fell to the ground after being hit near the warning track, but he managed to walk off the field under his own power. "The ball hit off the fungo and I didn't see the ball," said Doubront. "But I'm fine." The southpaw should be fine to make his next scheduled start Thursday against the Rays.

Felix Doubront was decent against the Royals Monday, giving up four runs on seven hits and three walks over 6 1/3 innings in an 11-5 win. He needs to give Vicente Padilla a hug, as Padilla induced an inning-ending double-play in the seventh after Doubront had just walked in the Royals' fifth run of the game. The left-hander has struck out 32 over 32 1/3 innings this season, but he also sports a 5.29 ERA and 1.55 WHIP, making him a risky proposition in mixed formats. He'll face the Indians this weekend.

Felix Doubront picked up his first loss of the season against the Athletics on Tuesday, giving up five runs on six hits in just four innings of work. It was a night of mixed results for Doubront. He had great stuff, as evidenced by his eight strikeouts, but also walked two and looked caught far too much of the plate throughout the brief outing. He's now 1-1 on the year, though his ERA sits at an uninspiring 5.19. He'll look to get back on the right track when he takes on the Royals in Kansas City on Monday.

Felix Doubront picked up his first win of the season on Thursday, limiting the White Sox to three runs on five hits over six innings. Doubront struck out two and walked three on the night. He improves to 1-0 on the season and sports a 4.09 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 22 innings of work. He was in line to pick up his first victory last time out against the Yankees before the epic meltdown from the Red Sox bullpen. He'll look to keep the ball rolling when he takes on the Athletics next week.

Felix Doubront pitched masterfully against the Yankees on Saturday, allowing just one run on four hits in six innings of work. He struck out seven and walked just three in the game. Doubront left after six innings with a comfortable 9-1 lead, but the Red Sox bullpen surrendered seven runs in the top half of the seventh to make things interesting, and then squandered Doubront's victory in the eighth inning. He still has yet to factor into a decision this year, and possesses a solid 20/7 strikeout to walk ratio through 16 innings. He'll search for that elusive first victory again when he takes on the White Sox in Chicago on Thursday.

Felix Doubront has won the No. 4 spot in the Red Sox rotation. As expected. The left-hander has posted a 2.70 ERA over 16 2/3 innings this spring to win a spot, striking out 10 batters while walking six. Doubront has been injury-prone at times, but he can touch the mid-90s with his heater and has posted decent strikeout rates in the minors. There's AL-only league appeal here.

Despite giving up eight hits, Felix Doubront allowed just two runs in 4 2/3 innings Monday against the Twins. Since he's out of options, Doubront is likely to have a spot on the Red Sox, though whether he'll be a starter or a reliever is still up in the air. Alfredo Aceves is definitely outperforming the rest of the fifth-starter candidates at the moment, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he'll get the job.

Felix Doubront hurled four shutout innings Tuesday night in a 1-0 win over the Yankees. Doubront gave up a pair of singles while fanning three and walking one. While he needed 75 pitches to get through four innings, he was able to retire four of the final five batters he faced, including a double play ground ball off the bat of Mark Teixeira. The 24-year-old southpaw is out of options, so he still has a real shot at claiming Boston's fifth starter job.

Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe writes that Felix Doubront "the sleeper choice of many" in the Red Sox organization to win a spot in the starting rotation. Doubront had some injury issues last year but pitched well in the minors when healthy, posting a 3.96 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 8.6 K/9 rate. Since he's out of options, the lefty will make the team as a reliever if he doesn't win a spot in the rotation. Though he does have some upside, he's got a few ahead of him in the pecking order for a rotation spot, so he'll have to pitch really well in spring training to break camp as a starter.
