Gattis was tendered a contract by the Astros on Wednesday, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
This makes it official that the 29-year-old slugger will return to the Astros. Gattis acted as the Astros primary designated hitter in 2015, and although his batting average wasn't great at .246, his 27 home runs, 88 RBI, and 11 triples were all career highs, making it a no-brainer for the Astros to bring his production back for another season.

Gattis is out of the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis will sit for a third straight game as the Astros enter the final day of the regular season potentially needing a win to solidify a playoff spot. However, his absence likely relates to the lack of an available designated hitter, and he should be a consistent presence in the lineup for the postseason.

Gattis is not in the lineup Friday against the Diamondbacks, Evan Drellich of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis will be held out of the lineup for the first time since Sept. 11, and with the Astros closing up the season in an NL park without the DH, he may be relegated to just pinch-hitting opportunities in the final three games.

Gattis went 2-for-3 with a three-run home run and a walk in a 10-6 win over Oakland on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
That now marks the 25th homer for the Astros designated hitter and he's giving fantasy owners the power they were hoping for. His .206 ISO is fantastic and it makes him one of the best power-hitting catcher eligible players in baseball. The downside with Gattis is the dreadful .276 OBP and 0.24 walk-to-strikeout rate. He'll have trouble ever hitting above .250, but he should be a nice power source for years to come.

Gattis went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer in a blowout loss to Texas on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis and his 24th long ball of the year were nearly the only bright spots for the Astros in this one, as they got pummeled by a 14-3 score. While the power production is nice and Gattis is on the verge of clearing 80 RBI for the first time, his low batting average and lack of speed will reduce his value greatly in next year's drafts, as he'll lose catcher eligibility in most leagues after not playing a single game behind the plate this year.

Gattis is out of the lineup Friday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis continues to serve as the primary designated hitter for the Astros, but he'll receive a day off Friday. As a result, the team will instead give Marwin Gonzalez the start at first base while Luis Valbuena, the normal first baseman, will take over as the DH.

Gattis hit a solo home run -- his 14th of the season -- during Sunday's 5-4 loss to Boston.
The 28-year-old slugger ranks third on the Astros with 14 homers behind Luis Valbuena (19) and Chris Carter (15), but Gattis easily leads the team with 50 RBI.

Gattis is out of the lineup Monday against the Royals.
After playing in 10-straight games, a span when he hit for a .738 OPS with four of his 10 hits going for extra bases, Gattis gets the night off in favor of Jon Singleton, who went 0-for-4 in his season debut on Saturday. Unless Singleton can improve significantly at the plate, Gattis should continue to see regular at-bats, primarily at designated hitter.

Gattis went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Seattle on Saturday.
The catcher-turned-DH continues to take an all-or-nothing approach at the plate, with 13 homers, but a meager .264 OBP. His slugging percentage is down from 2014, but he should be able to exceed last season's raw output due to his increase in plate appearances compared to his catching days. A 30-homer campaign isn't out of the question as long as Gattis continues to enjoy everyday playing time for the 'Stros.

Gattis tied a career-high Sunday with four hits -- all singles -- with three runs scored during the Astros' 13-0 win over the Mariners.
After a sluggish start to his 2015 campaign (.164 batting average in April), Gattis hit .276 with nine home runs and 22 RBI in May and he's hitting .255 with one homer and eight RBI in June thus far.
