Gattis is in the lineup Tuesday against the Royals, batting seventh and serving as the DH.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis missed all of spring training after offseason surgery to repair a hernia, but he's now had four rehab games under his belt and is set to make his season debut. With the hot start by Tyler White, Gattis was bumped a bit lower in the lineup than expected, but he could move up a bit after his first few games. The 29-year-old could see some work in the field, but he's expected to serve primarily as the club's DH.

The Astros activated Gattis (lower body) from the disabled list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis missed all of spring training and the first portion of the regular season after undergoing surgery to repair a hernia in February, but he has recovered from the procedure, and is good to go after a four-game rehab stint, one in which he tallied six hits and homered twice. He figures to be the Astros' regular designated hitter moving forward, and will slot in somewhere in the middle of the batting order.

Gattis (sports hernia) will be activated from the DL on Tuesday, Jake Kaplan of The Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis will take the spot of Matt Duffy on the roster. Used in left field and at DH last season, Gattis hit 27 home runs over 153 games. Astros manager A.J. Hinch still likes the idea of Gattis playing catcher this season but look for the slugger to make his first start as a DH.

Astros manager A.J. Hinch said he has not given up on the idea of Gattis catching games this season, the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
After catching regularly for the Braves during his two seasons in Atlanta, Gattis was used only in left field and at DH in 2015 by Houston. If nothing else, Gattis may see enough time to pick up in-season eligibility behind the plate in some leagues, even if he doesn't pile up the typical 20-plus needed to become an option for fantasy owners behind the dish in 2017. He may return to the Astros as soon as Tuesday, assuming that all goes as planned in his rehab game at Double-A Corpus Christi on Monday.

Gattis will play one more game with Double-A Corpus Christi on Monday, but is expected to return to the Astros within the following days, the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis received Sunday off after playing in three straight days as the designated hitter for the Double-A club. He seemed to have his timing back on track during those outings, collecting five hits in 12 total at-bats. Following his final rehab outing, look for Gattis to resume DH duties for the Astros at some point during next week's four-game series with the Royals.

Gattis (sports hernia) is expected to begin his rehab assignment at Double-A Corpus Christi on Thursday, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis is set to join the Astros' Double-A affiliate Tuesday to resume working out. Provided that he gets through conditioning with no issues, he'' draw into the lineup Thursday to get his rehab assignment started. It's unclear how long the Astros will want him down at Double-A, but given Gattis' lengthy absence due to sports hernia surgery, it could stretch out for several games to get his bat back up to speed.

Gattis (lower body) was officially placed on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 25 on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Gattis has been expected to start the year on the DL after missing the majority of spring training while recovering from offseason sports hernia surgery. The move to the disabled list allowed the Astros to add spring training standout Tyler White to the Opening Day roster. Given that the Astros placed him on the DL retroactive to March 25, April 10 would be the earliest Gattis can be expected to make his 2016 debut.

Gattis (sports hernia) will start the year on the DL, the Houston Chronicle's Evan Drellich reports.
EDGE Analysis
He will finish out minor league camp and then join one of the Astros' minor league affiliates to start the season so that he can get his work in on a rehab assignment. The fact that he is in minor league camp allows the team to backdate his DL stint to Mar. 25, so he could be with Houston as soon as Apr. 10. Look for him to rejoin the big league club in mid-to-late April, where he may have challengers in the form of Tyler White, Jonathan Singleton and Preston Tucker for at-bats at designated hitter.

EDGE Analysis
Gattis has not appeared in Grapefruit League action and will likely be limited to minor league intrasquad games for the remainder of spring training. Preston Tucker is the favorite to fill the DH role in his absence.
